Totally Rad Christmas!

It's a show about the raddest time of year in the baddest decade ever! That's right! We talk all things Christmas in the '80s to the max! Toys, movies, specials, music, books, games, comics, decorations, food, fashion, and fads--if it was gnarly during Christmas in the '80s, we got it covered!

A Review of "Totally Rad Christmas!"
I had often found what I had believed to had been certain parts of what I had believed to had been certain installments of this "Totally Rad Christmas" to had been interesting, enjoyable, likeable, and unlikeable (or unenjoyable, ridiculous, vulgar, insulting, and detrimental).

    Totally Rad!
As a Gen Xer (kid in the 80’s, teenager in the early 90’s) this podcast hits every nostalgic sweet spot. Gerry is a delight and it’s obvious he has a real affinity for everything he covers. I definitely prefer when he covers movies and TV and generally skip the episodes where he dissects pieces of music and specific songs. Most of the guests add a lot of fun insight to the discussions. A few exceptions were the two annoying, drunk ladies on the Who’s the Boss episode and the woman who seemed really bored and disinterested in the NKOTB episodes. I was really looking forward to those episodes, but the cohosts made them unlistenable. Also, you would think the Rankin Bass “expert” (Rick something) would be a treasure trove of information, but his voice and delivery is like watching paint dry 😴 Fortunately there have only been a few misses in a string of great episodes.

    Awesome! Totally Awesome!
If you grew up in the 80s, you won't find a better podcast than Totally Rad Christmas. Gerry's a great host, and I'm not saying that just because he's had me on so many times.

my era, my holiday, my podcast!
Gerry always has great topics to discuss, being a kid in the 80's as well, we both have very similar tastes, so the episodes and topics line up with ALL the stuff im into! :)

    Good show, BUT
The concept is cool, production quality is good and the host is likable. BUT there are two things holding the show back from being a solid 4 star podcast. 1) Overall the show is a celebration of GenX/Early Millennial nostalgia, so it is likely that the listener would pick an episode that covers a topic that they themselves have fond memories of. Usually the show delivers on that- EXCEPT when the host himself covers something he personally doesn’t have nostalgia for. In that case, he’ll spend the episode being negative about it, or saying “I don’t know, I don’t get it” and “It doesn’t make any sense.” over and over. It’s very irritating, and also brings me to my 2nd issue with the show… 2) There are Guests (and often reoccurring Guests) that can easily derail and ruin the show. Sometimes the host doesn’t have chemistry with the guest, or the guest themselves don’t have much to say, OR they don’t know when to shut up. It can range from mildly awkward and boring to excruciatingly painful. Tastes will vary of course, but there is one Reoccurring Guest that is insufferable and his presence is always an instant episode skip for me. I won’t name him, but he and Simpsons Comic Book Guy share alot in common. Smug, perpetually negative, pretentious, a little effeminate and alot overweight. Everything is “awful” and “terrible” with this guy. I get the impression that the host, who is generally light-hearted upbeat type personality, is tickled by his curmudgeonly Guest, finding his negativity to be humorous? Idk I’m just speculating. Either way, the dude ruins every episode he’s on and he’s on A LOT of episodes. I started this review angrily intending to give it 1 Star, but that’s not really fair to the Host. The show is overall good and worth giving a chance. I just wish he’d stop having that F’ing neckbeard on.

    Like Totally Cool, Man!
I love Gerry Davila’s podcast! I was introduced to him by listening to him guest host on another podcast I love ’Tis the Podcast’. I don’t get to catch him live or when it is released, so I miss out my opportunities to comment, but my memories of totally awesome Christmases and holiday seasons are brought to the forefront of my mind. Thank you for your Totally Rad Podcast! <3

    Episode 160 Newhart!!
I just loved this episode and the guest you had on who is excellent by the way had such a good take on the humor of newhart and all the nuances.Especially when he noted that sometimes the funniest moments are the silent ones which is so true it’s almost uncomfortable and you just laugh! Also correct is the fact the show flies right under the radar it’s one of the funniest shows ever I don’t even think it makes a top 20 of the greatest comedy shows of all time and it really should it should be in the top 10For the dry humor it’s just so awesome that you guys are recognizing it. Keep up the great work with the 80s it was a great time to grow up in the shower really is so nostalgic for me and I just love every episode. Wendy Colchester CT

This podcast is so much fun. I discovered it through the Christmas Past podcast and can’t stop listening to it. The pop culture reviews are so spot on. Sometimes I wish I could respond to the conversations directly.Holidays and the 80’s are definitely a happy place!

    Great Christmas Spirit
Great podcast from a host that really loves Christmas for the right reasons. Good guests and topics as well. The only feedback I’d give, and I’m not trying to be mean here, is that you can tell how much he loves music and how badly he wants to be a good singer but it’s not there. Pull back on the singing attempts or get lessons😊

    One of my favorite podcasts!
Eighties? Check. Christmas? Check. Nostalgia? Check. Gerry D. packs it all into this super awesome podcast. He keeps the ‘Christmas feels’ alive and well all year long!

    Perfect Christmas nostalgia show!
It feels to me like there’s always been a ton of nostalgic Christmas stuff out there for Baby Boomers. I’ve always wished there was some thing from my generation that just focused on Christmas when you were a kid. Here it is and I love it.

    A nostalgic treat!
Gerry's embrace of two of the funnest things on earth - the 1980s and Christmas - has led to a highly entertaining show. If it came from the eighties and celebrated Christmas (Spider-Man, Family Ties, Magnum, PI, etc.), Gerry has you covered. Great show for fans of having fun.

    Love this!
I definitely love Christmas, and I like to be able to enjoy it a little bit throughout the year. This podcast is positive, sweet, and very nostalgic! I don’t hear a lot of negativity or complaining, just the good stuff. It just makes me happy to listen :-)

    Fun And Full Of Information
Listened to the Night Of The Comet episode, and it was a great listen! Gerry and his guest share fun personal anecdotes while commenting on the movie, and that's a nice touch. They also mention things that people might not know about this movie (I certainly didn't!). Overall, it's definitely a recommended podcast for people looking for 80s nostalgia sprinkled with movie trivia. - Chuy EMBL

    Awesome show!
Great premise, great guests, great host! The premise of the show is a combination of the greatest things ever: Christmastime and the 80s! What could be better?? Gerry is also an amazing host and makes this such a fun listen every episode! Make sure this podcast is under your tree every week!

    Gerry Christmas!
This podcast rocks. Love the premise. Just listened to the Night of the Comet episode and Gerry just presents like a professional host. Cadence, speech, tone, dude's got the whole package. Guest Scott made some good points too but Gerry clearly knows how to interview and review at the same time. Never saw the movie but now I have to go out and get it. Love a good awesomely bad zombie movie whether intentional or not. Pretty cool that it had two female leads as well. Look forward to hearing more! -CP

    80s + Christmas = A WIN
I ‘totally’ love this show! Though I am a 90s kid, I was raised on the 80s by my mom and I love love love Christmastime. So you combine those two things plus Gerry’s energy, you come away with a great show! I really enjoy learning little tidbits about different songs/shows/movies that I wasn’t previously privy to, and feel confident I could rock a very specific-themed trivia night!

    What a Fun Podcast!!
What a fun podcast!! By putting together two of my all time favorite things together, Christmas and the 80’s, Gerry has created a fantastic concept. His co-hosts are lively and having so much fun talking about precious 80’s Christmas memories. I love this podcast!

    Christmas in April?!
Gerry D is a delightful host with great guests that kept me laughing. From his who’s the boss ep and his great Tony Danza impersonation to his awesome X-men Xmas episode covering a holiday/Alien themed issue - I was engaged! I was laughing and the show did that thing I look for most in a podcast which is to make me wish I was there to contribute to the conversation and also to learn something new that I simply have to look up! Recently looked up an animated Supernatural/Scooby Doo crossover thanks to Gerry, Joe, & Aaron! And SCOOB is now on my to watch list! Christmas is certainly made more RAD by being year round and totally 80s!!!

What a great show! The host is so genuine and he know his 1980s Christmas. I love how he covers a mix of tv, movie, toys, musical and other 80s nostalgia. Thanks for taking me back to my childhood and away from the stress of adulthood with every episode.

    The Raddest Christmas Podcast Around
If you’re not hooked from the moment you hear the theme song, I’d check to make sure you still have a pulse. A great magnifying glass for how crazy fun Christmastime in the 80’s was. With a wide variety of topics to cover under its overall umbrella there’s something new and interesting to discover each episode!

    As rad as Christmas gets!
I first came to “know” Gerry from Tis The Podcast and was delighted to see he started up his own podcast. Totally Rad goes down nostalgia lane in the 80s and Gerry is such a fun guy to listen to!
