cas5photoFood and medicine for the photographer's soul -updateThis podcast helps ground me in my photography. In a craft that demands keeping up with technique and technology, it is easy to lose perspective. Every week, Daniel Gregory reminds us of the primary importance of the creative act and what really matters to us. This indeed is food and medicine for the photographer's soul. Update - over 6 years later: Well, not only am I still listening to this podcast, I went back and listened to the early episodes, right from the start ie, I’ve listened to ALL 533 episodes so far. You might say that I’m a loyal fan! That’s because just about every episode offers me something to consider, ponder, investigate further, try out. I listen to many of them more than once. What a gift! Thanks Daniel.

Image|MakerAlways Something New to PonderAmong the handful of podcasts I enjoy, Daniel’s stands out as my favorite—and the one I most often recommend to photographer friends. His deep passion for photography as a means of expression is matched by his remarkable ability to articulate complex concepts in a way that inspires action. Each episode leaves me feeling motivated and equipped to explore new creative approaches. What sets Daniel apart is his consistently positive and engaging presentation. He skips unnecessary fluff, getting straight to the point with insights that are both practical and profound. His thoughtful guidance has been instrumental in my growth as a photographer, encouraging me to pursue meaning with greater intention in my work. If you’re a photographer looking for inspiration and thoughtful perspectives, this podcast is an absolute must-listen. Highly recommended!

27slmBest photography podcastDaniel Gregory makes me think! Probably the best teaching podcast on the air when it comes to philosophy, approach, and looking at my intentions when I go out to make a photograph. I have learned more from this podcast than from any class, be it high school, college, or workshop!!!

fivebluefeathersA weekly dose of creative inspirationI have listened to this remarkable podcast every week for about 3 years. I love Daniel J Gregory’s insights into The why behind photography, and artistic expression as a whole. He speaks to my soul and I feel like I am back in my favorite BFA degree lectures every week. He is grounded and thoughtful in his words and delivery. This podcast speaks to my soul.

Chuck OrigerThinker PhotographerI have been listening to podcasts for 10 years and The Perceptive Photographer is my favorite for the depth of insight provided by Daniel Gregory. This is not a gear show. It’s not interviews or two friends just chatting; Daniel has deep-rooted insights into the art, the process and those of us behind the camera. I enjoy many other podcasts, but this one makes me think in a manner that is good for me. Daniel challenges me to think about photography and what I am doing and why. If you wanna think, listen to The Perceptive Photographe

Yael_DA great source of inspirationThese photography podcasts are short and sweet just how I like them. And yet they contain invaluable knowledge and super important concepts, they offer new ways of seeing and some great thoughts and ideas, that not only inspire you to become a better photographer and create meaningful work that resonates with others, but also inspire you to see, connect, embrace and empower the true artist within you. For me it's made a world of a difference. Thank you, Daniel!

DanielSeurerA must listen to podcastI recently became aware of Daniel Gregory’s podcast after listening to his great training session on Kelby Training and a recent episode of “The Grid”. This has now become my favorite photography podcast because it lets us listen in on his thought process when creating images and stories from these images. Refreshingly it is not about gear and f-stops. This is a must listen to podcast for anyone who truly wants to take their image making to the next level. After listening to the most recent podcast, I decided to listen to them in chronological order to see how his views and perceptions have evolved over the course of his podcast series. Keep up the inspiration!
