Food #144

Think Portland, Oregon is all VooDoo Doughnuts and "put an egg on it?" One of Portland's most prominent "food sherpas" and Portland Food Adventures' founder Chris Angelus along with co-host Cort Johnson invite the region’s most prominent and up-and-coming tastemakers to pull up a chair and talk about the craft of food & beverage in their own words. This is “Right at the Fork.”

    His complaining
Host invites guests on show so he has someone who will listen to him complain.

    Great weekly listen
I’ve been listening since this podcast debuted. It helps me keep up with the people who create the Portland food scene, the voices and lives behind the food.

This is my new go-to source for restaurant recommendations and Portland food news. Chris and Cort do a great job!!

    Great interviews - but Gary....
I’ve listened to this diligently for the last few years. The insight you get from area Chef’s is really interesting and fun to listen to. I get that Gary is a big part of the Podcast, but it gets really old hearing about how boring (insert a plethora of other adjectives Gary uses) Portland’s food scene is. And how great SF’s is. That shtick gets really old. I don’t listen to the podcast to hear that and I don’t think it benefits the podcast or listener.

    Excellent
You have to hand it to Right At The Fork, their show is a template for how to do produce Pac NW food show & they've been an invaluable resource for me this past year & I hope for many to come.

Glad I found this show while visiting Portland
Gives you an inside track to the best places to eat. Covers not just the food -- you get to know the person behind the business. Be sure to listen to #88. Lisa is amazing. Love her interview process.

    Always great info and fun
I love learning more about the local chefs who make our great food scene. Chris gets them schmoozing.

    Great intro to the scene
I moved to the Yamhill Valley two years ago after cooking in Minneapolis for a decade. Being just outside Portland, I haven't had the opportunity to interact with a lot of cooks and chefs in the PDX food scene, so this podcast has opened a window into that world for me. Nice to see that many of the big names are just as thoughtful, passionate, and driven as my friends and mentors back home. Seems like a very similar vibe to MSP. Great podcast, smart and fun conversations. The kind of food talk that should be out there. Not kitchen gossip and war stories.

    I always learn so much
If you’re at all interested in the Portland food scene, this is your podcast. I’ve never listened to one and thought, “that was a waste of time.” So much to learn and some great back stories.

    Fantastic pod
This is a great resource for those who are interested in the Portland (and surrounding area) food scene. The host, Chris Angelus, is a dedicated enthusiast who is also a very good interviewer, and he brings in a great variety of guests, primarily chefs and chef/owners of Portland's restaurants, bars etc. Great stuff !

    My Favorite podcast
I listen to a lot of podcasts, and this is my favorite. The shows primary focus is the culinary scene around Portland, Oregon. Portland is off the charts in terms of food talent and many of the people who make that so are guests on this podcast. I don’t even live near Portland, but I eagerly await each episode. The Host, Chris Angelus, is very engaging. He is sharp, warm and funny and does a great job interviewing the culinary sharpies in and around Portland. If you like food, this is a MUST listen. I had a long road trip a while back and listened to 10 episodes straight thru and was high amused the entire time. Great stuff!

    Great Show!
This a great show that will really help you appreciate these restaurants when you try them for the first time. We forget that these indie restaurants are more than a place to eat; they are the product of someone devoting their heart, sole and life to providing you a service. Listening to these back stories will make you enjoy your meal 10 times more.

    Audio just captures it better.
You've read about their the reviews, you've read their interviews and you’ve eaten their food, but this podcast is the perfect venue to get to know what Portland’s food scenesters are really like. Reading their quoted may be pretty cool, but listening to them answer? The jokes are funnier and the sincerity more sincere. Love.

    Love hearing in-depth interviews
Great resource for people who not only want to know where to go eat, but the stories of the people behind the places. Really thoughtful conversations. Love it!

A Voice to Portland's Thriving Food Scene
I binge listen to this podcast and love the little things I pick up from the different episodes. I make sure to reference an episode if I'm headed to a restaurant for a meal. I love hearing chef histories too!
