Sam10868For a good nostalgic trip to a better time.I truly enjoy this podcast for trips down memory lane and adding to my watch list.

shakurav1Brings me forward and backYeah, I'm a monster kid. Although I never had a subscription, whenever I found Famous Monsters of FilmLand in a stationary store or on a magazine stand, I always bugged my parents to get me a copy until I got an allowance and could buy it myself. I grew up with horror hosts, most especially Sir Graves Ghastly in Detroit. I grew up watching monster and horror movies on television mostly. So many of those still resonate within me, and there are more than a few trips I can find them on Blu-ray, I snatch them right up. It brings me back and gives me those "feels" associated with nostalgia and "member berries". There are lots of podcasts that dial into this. But this one for me, it does it the most. It's just feels like somebody connecting to these things out of their love, and stays on point. The guests are amazing, so many topics are ones I want to listen to more than once. Highly recommended

willmizeThe Godfather of Monster Kid PodcastersEven though he's a youngun' (compared to me), it seems that Derek has always been around, creating episodes, reviewing movies, and questioning guests. Monster Kid Radio is one of those comforting shows - it has a format, you know what you're going to get, and Derek delivers! He was a prime inspiration for my own show ("Bill Watches Movies") and was very helpful in getting the show publicized and off the ground. He's going through some rough times now, but rough times always pass, and Derek, a true Monster Kid at heart, will be there with Monster Kid Radio, his weekend monster movie showings on Twitch, and so on. Thank you for everything you do, Derek!

Joe92580AwesomeI just have one word: Love it! Ok, well two words. But this show is the best out there. The passion of the hosts prove their commitment to excellence.
-
BryanBrawlI miss Mail Order Zombie…Only just heard about this podcast cuz they received a Silver Bolo Award, but as soon as I heard the name Derek Koch, I knew I had to subscribe! MAIL ORDER ZOMBIE AND BROTHER D FOR LIFE!
-
CyclonautA must listen for fans of creature features from the 50s, 60s & 70sA high quality show which is an audio experience as much as fan discussion of a film. The entire podcast perfectly dials in a nostalgic setting for chills and thrills from classic (and not so classic) monster films. A must listen for fans of old sci-fi and creature features!!!

Tim F 1991All Monster Fans Should ListenDerek has put together a great podcast the early episodes are great and very intimate and it just continues to get better as it goes. I personally really enjoy all the trailers as well as Kenny’s Famous Monsters of Movieland.
-
WarguyflimsGreat show! This podcast is one of my favorite podcasts out there the host loves what he is talking about and so do I !
-
P@rick From SouthieGreat Show But......I love the topic but between all the music interludes, audio from trailers, and the never ending 10 question game, I find myself fast forwarding through most of the show
-
CarterFromTheBlackLagoonentertaining and informativeI thought I had written a review awhile back but I guess not. Love the fun and in depth look at all my favorite monster movies from back in the day.
-
Gregory_LitchfieldMonster Kid Radio is the best!Monster Kid Radio is the best classic monster movie podcast I listen to! Derek M. Koch not only produces a professional sounding podcast, but he articulates clearly, has intelligent guests and - most importantly - speaks from a place of pure love for the movies he covers.
-
Run DMC19Awesome PodI'm a total horror/monster buff, and I gotta say this podcast is outstanding. Everything about it is well-done! Great job!
-
zagulaMonsters, Music, and Movies!Monster Kid Radio is a podcast about the movies, music, books, conventions and now the toys that we Monster Kids love. The 'cast covers mostly classic monster movies with the occasional discussion of newer genre movies. Derek features knowledgable guests and is engaging and entertaing with good audio quality and production values. One of my favorite parts of the show is the monster surf rock themed music. Derek's wife Brenda has recently been joining the fun and she's a sparkling addition to the show. MKR has also introduced me to a number of other related podcasts which I love. I look forward to this show every week and I listen to every episode right away; I also re-listen to old episode favorites. Highly recommended!

PaulNearDanburyI never miss this podcastMonster Kid Radio is one of the handful of podcasts that I "gulp down" as soon as possible every week, instead of saving it for later listening. As a longtime fan of the classic monster movie era (which here means monster movies released before "Night of the Living Dead" arrived in theaters), the topics covered in MKR are always fascinating to me. Host Derek Koch's guests include a wide variety of experts in various topics, plus people who create new stories and movies, based on the classic-period works. One thing that fascinates me is when Derek and a guest will discuss some specific film that I've never seen; this is fairly difficult to do, as I have seen an awful lot of them. And for the ones I have already seen, the conversation always brings out some aspects that I had never noticed. The tone of the show is always good-natured; this is NOT the place to go, if you prefer snarky remarks about poor-quality productions. These folks find some angle to admire, no matter how flawed the execution of a film; essentially, they appreciate the work that movie-makers have done, regardless of whether the movies get much respect from anyone else. Derek and his wife Brenda have been producing Monster Kid Radio for about half a decade now (Brenda is not heard in every episode, but her support is always evident) and it has never lost its freshness. In fact, the shows get better as the months pass.

CrmfghtrClass ActIf you love classic Sci-Fi, Horror and Kaju movies then you have come home. How often did you find a podcast on a favorite movie only to hear a room full of loud obnoxious people tear it to shreds? Not this show, which truly honors our favorites with thoughtful insight. The host knows much, his guest hosts as well, and its all done with a sprightly warmth and charm.
-
EDavis1973So Much Fun!Monster Kid Radio hosted by Derek M. Koch is a must subscribe! He has great interviews and conversations about the movies we grew up with.
-
Billy DunleavyMonster Kid RadioExcellent podcast. The show has very high production value, and is extremely entertaining. Solid guests, info, and genuine insight to films from yester-year. Typically, one person podcast’s can be very boring, but Derek keeps it lively with guests, interviews, promos, and trailers. A podcast with a ton of heart. Monster kids this one is a must subscribe!

ImploreThe best horror movie podcast out.I've been listening for a few months now and the amount of entertainment I get from MKR is great. I love getting new episodes in my feed. I've never seen most of the movies they cover, but I tend to find myself tracking some of them down! Love the show, keep up the good work.
-
dmsbr549Very enjoyableReally love this show and it covers a lot of things I have seen and a lot I have not but now want to. The guests and interviews are always top notch. When I review a show I usually like to add something to improve on. Can't think of anything here. I alway learn something new.
-
kcvidkidMy favorite podcast!I thought I already wrote a review of Monster Kid Radio, but I'm either mistaken or wrote something inappropriate... probably the former rather than the latter. Anyway, this is the one podcast for which I eagerly await a new episode. It has resurrected wonderful monster memories for me, brought new movies to my attention, and introduced me to several other classic horror podcasts. This is the mother of them all, though, if I had to pick one one.
-
Joe EidenThe best classic monster movie podcast out there! If your a fan of classic and not so classic monster and sci-fi flicks and your not listening to this podcast your doing yourself a disservice. This is the best there is! Informative, funny and casual, this show has all the points that we look for in a quality podcast. The various guests along with the host stir up a conversation I always wish I could be involved in. I find myself listening to various episodes more then once. I find myself going back and watching the films they cover while listening to the podcast. And that includes films I may not have liked so much. Monster Kid Radio is responsible for me spending even more time in front of the TV. And I for one am great-full! Thank you Derek. Keep up the great work and this particular fan in NE PA will always tune in. Joe Eiden
-
Richard RibThank you, doesn't say enough! So very happy to have found this podcast! As a child of the 60's you have made me remember all those movies I watched and loved as a kid! Thank you!
-
Klaus' cousinA fistful of fishI heard about this through Joe Stuber's very awesome "Comic Book Central" podcast & what really appeals to me here is the in depth conversations that covers a world of vintage & obscure horror films. I'm not a huge horror nut or anyting but am familiar with a somewhat fair amount & love the Universal & Hammer stuff, the old school Godzilla flicks, the original Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, & Dark Shadows tv shows. I'll admit that I'm not always familiar with some of the films they cover but it's entertaining notheless & it's made my workday go by much faster. This is a great listen for fans of underground & cult cinema, & excerpts from the trailer's of these various old school horror gems peppered throughout the podcast is another definite plus.
-
BooGirl31I love this podcast! This is a podcast specifically dedicated to monster films from a bygone era. It's entertaining, informative and I can't get enough. I used to watch these films with my Nana. Some of them I had even forgotten I'd seen. To hear Derek talk about the films brings all the memories back. I can't thank you enough, Derek. Keep up the great podcast!- Diana in New Jersey
-
RottnjeepMonsters? Heck yesThis is simply one of the best monster movie review podcasts you can find. New ones, old ones, good ones, bad ones, classic and not so classic, Monster Kid Radio reviews them all. And some fantastic interviews with amazing Monster Kid guests. Definitely a five star podcast.
-
CoffindanBest podcast in castlandiaMy favorite podcast that I listen to. Excellently produced, written and edited by Derek M. Koch. Derek always has great guests and I love the format. There's always trailers for the subject at hand and well sometimes clips may pop up in the conversations which is great! I admit that usually when the show comes to an end, I dont want it to end. It's that good. Kudos Derek!
-
OldManCaruthersA Great Find!I actually heard about Monster Kid Radio when the Killer P.O.V. hosts were joking about osing this year's Rondo Award to it. Turns out it's a fantastic show for fans of classic monster films. Derek Koch is a solid host with a great breadth of classic monster knowledge. He even co-hosts a podscast specifically geared toward Hammer films! My only quibble with the show is, because it is twice a week, the episodes are relatively short and longer discussions are broken up into two or three episodes. Personally I would prefer complete episodes with less frequents downloads but none of that takes away from the content which is just outstanding.
-
Section109Great showDerek has a well produced show with great guests and tons of info
-
J MorbidMKR reviesDerek is a truly enthusiastic movie fan, and does a great job putting out his MKR show. The short, tight format is refreshing and unique, and LOVE dat surf guitar bumper music! KEEP IT UP!!!!
-
ClassicMonsterCollectorClassic Monster Movies & Surf Music = My Day MadeDerek and his guests focus on monster / sic fi / fantasy movies from the Golden Era (i.e. my childhood) and their love and affection for classic, and not so classic genre films come through each and every episode. I never miss a show and always look forward to the next one — and the featured horror / surf guitar song of the week is sweet icing on an already tasty cake. Thanks Derek for helping me relive my monster kid childhood every week and to helping me load up my Netflix and Amazon Prime watch lists with a whole bunch of b-movies that I can’t wait to dig into.
-
thinman54Fantastic podcast!Derek, I can't believe it's taken me so long to write a review....but here I am with "an honest review": Derek does another great job with this podcast, the time he puts into research and getting knowledgeable guests to join him really makes this truly fantastic! Thanks and keep up the great work! Your friend, Nick
-

Earth 2 ChrisMonstrously fun and informativeDerek M. Koch and his rotating list of guests never fail to entertain. I thought I was fairly informed on classic (and not so classic, as Derek puts it) monster films, but I’m learning there is a universe of films out there I’ve yet to discover. But thanks to this show, I want to! I find myself enjoying episodes on movies I had no previous knowledge of. The banter between Derek and his guests is more than enough to keep my ear buds alert. And the catchy surf music that opens and closes each episode doesn’t hurt either. I look forward to each episode. Highly recommended to anyone who ever loved a classic monster!
-
bstrodenI LOVE this podcast! As a 50 year old Monster Kid, this podcast is like candy! Intelligent, fun, informative, and just a blast to listen to. Host Derek does a great job compiling guests and sharing his boundless enthusiasm for all things classic monsters. I can’t believe it took me a year to find this, but I’m making up for lost time listening to the back catalog. Give a listen, and you’ll see what I mean.
-

Paul Minturna home for monster kids!i was fortunate to have parents that didn't discourage my love for horror. i grew up reading Poe and watching the great horror and sf flicks. i still love those films and it's great to hear fellow fans talk about their love for these flicks. it's a real treat to have this show come out twice a week (like the old Batman TV show!). keep up the great work Derek!
