    Great show!
One of my favorite podcasts. Pretty sure I’ve listened to every episode now. Only comment is that I really really enjoy long-form content, and the short-form content doesn’t really match up and usually ends up getting ignored. Other than that 5/5!!!!!

    Very good show.
Having listened to at least half of the episodes, I firmly believe John is performing a very valuable service here for the language acquisition community. But there is room for improvement. I wish his main goal was to extract as many great stories and insights from his guests as possible. (Jared at the You Can Learn Chinese Podcast is an absolute master at this.) John frequently interjects with his thoughts, ideas and stories in an effort to generate respect from his guest and build rapport. It’s a worthy secondary goal, but comes at the cost of frustrating long-term listeners who’ve heard it all before. John is clearly a really good guy with all of the impressive language credentials you’d wish from a host. A shorter, more tightly edited show with a greater emphasis on the guest, will propel this superior show to greatness.

A Must For Anyone Interested in Languages
The host seems very passionate about language learning, but tends to ramble sometimes. If you feel it coming on, you know where the fast forward button is, though. Very enjoyable nonetheless.

    Inspiring
Hearing all the ways people learn a new language is fascinating and inspiring. So many resources are out there that I never knew about and this show has its finger on the pulse of them all.

    Great podcast for language learning
Great info. I’ve been able to apply many of the ideas from both the host and the guests to my language learning. I even discovered Katie Harris from joy of languages on this podcast and she has been my favorite way of learning Italian.

Top-notch interviewing skills and actionable advice!
I wish I had had this podcast to listen to when I was first learning Russian as an independent language learner! Come to think of it, I wish I had had this podcast when I was learning Spanish in high school and college so I would have learned that my methods were ineffective and I didn’t have to feel so bad about “not being good at languages”. If I had applied some of these concepts, I would have gotten an A+, ha! John is a skilled interviewer and each episode is filled with practical takeaways and actionable content. A must for any independent language learner or aspiring polyglot!

    Wonderful tool
I really love this podcast. I wish there were more resources like this. It is truly refreshing to hear people who know what they're talking about and are not just trying to sell something. I was teaching a Russian class when I stumbled on to this and I had my students listen to selected episodes as homework. The host and all of his guests are realistic. They are not salesmen. They are not dogmatic. They enjoy languages and they are eager to be helpful to new language learners. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
