    Audio
The audio is awful. Sounds like you are talking in a can.

an episode on legislation affecting LGBTQ residents

    Hidalgo/Mealer episode was laughable
Tribune claims to be non partisan which is hogwash but the Hidalgo and Mealer discussion was laughable. No mention of Mealer’s credentials which have led to her endorsements from nearly every police department, union, association as well as countless others. The prep regarding Harris county was non existent yet the excuses for Hidalgo were plentiful.

    Kids Having Fun
I can’t believe they used “kids in the street having fun” screaming between grim interviews about an abortion clinic in Mexico City. My brain hurts.

Used to be better, but they rarely put out new episodes so who care?
This podcast definitely took a turn for the worse when Ramshaw left. It's too bad the new hosts aren't as knowledgeable of Texas policies and politics. But maybe it doesn't matter since their publication schedule has become erratic.

    Texas Politics
Love this podcast for keeping up with Texas politics!

    Update
I miss Emily and the old crew that regularly took part in the podcast. The new hosts don't have the same wit and knowledge of Texas politics that the original participants did. It's a shame, but people move on to bigger things.

Was great, is now silly and vapid
There used to be great banter and great information. Now the show is empty and silly. The banter is not engaging and has been replaced with a lot of giggling and inside references. It used to have a great flow and great content, and while good it has clearly lowered the professionalism bar.

    Missing Ramshaw
The new host isn’t doing great, skipped over most of the new episodes since Emily left. Tough time to not be able to listen to this. #markasplayed

    Please work on sound quality
I love the topics of the episodes and the knowledge base it f the reporters. Politically they keep it very factual and don’t lean to far in any one direction, which I highly value and appreciate. My one quibble is that some of the reporters tend to speak very softly or turn away from the microphone while talking making it difficult to hear what the are saying.

    Please hear me
I want to love this podcast. Evan Smith does such an amazing job with his. This should be equally as good. The topics are so luring. But you all make it SO BORING. Don’t write this review off as a crazy listener. I assure you I’m normal, and the above average consumer of multiple podcasts. The three folks featured on this make the conversation so bland, so monotone, it’s unlistenable. Please listen back to the replays of yourselves and adjust your intonation and levels. Bring some energy. Or don’t podcast. These topics are too good to make me fall asleep on my commute.

Extremely palatable reporting on local and state issues!!
This podcast is listenable and highly compelling for young voters and old in Texas (and out-of-state Texans), which is a feat for a podcast that explores granular details of Texas politics at the district, city, and state level. Support the Tribune making more edcuated local voters!!

    Great info!
Great podcast about Texas politics! I love staying up-to-date on what’s going on at the capital and they represent all sides well. One small gripe is that sometimes they do a poor job of speaking into the microphone, talking over each other, or speaking quietly then loudly, which is fine in a conversation, but not on a broadcast

    Quit interrupting each other
It’s frustrating when I can’t hear anyone’s points because everyone is talking at once. Evan Smith is smart and interesting but he will not let anyone talk. I just listened to a show where he literally talked the entire time, did nothing but interrupt, hold forth for several minutes at a time, pause to let someone start to say something, and then jump in and shout them down before they got a single sentence out. It’s really irritating.

Smart, entertaining, and funny. Highly recommend. I am smarter after having listened to it.

Evan Smith is my least favorite person to listen to.

Stop marking your old content as new, all you are doing is filling our storage with content that I once enjoyed that is now annoying...

Must Listen if you Love Texas
The Texas Tribune is doing some of the most important journalistic work in the state, and Texas is lucky to have such dedicated journalists serving in Austin. The tribcast keeps me up to date about my home state, sometimes I don’t even feel like I’m in Tennessee!
  • Lonesome Moose
    Homesick for Texas Politics
I'm a former Abilene Reporter-News reporter who was yelled at by two consecutive grumpy Texas governors (Bill Clements and Ann Richards). I now live in Washington state and seriously miss Texas politics. I love the Texas Tribune and its great podcast. Always informative and entertaining, with insight I don't get anywhere else. Washington state politics is iceburg lettuce; Texas politics is spicy fajitas! Thanks for helping me get some good eating once a week!

    TribCast
Very informative, diverse, and intelligent dialogue amongst journalists and news analysts. They are dedicated to bringing the public closer to the events and headlines that effect them.
  • @JeffJackson
Simply the best coverage in TX
The TT is simply the best policy coverage in TX. Not just election coverage or issues relevant to Austin, but they cover issues on the border, education, and around the state. They have great weekly conversations, even when Evan is there. I appreciate their effort and hard work.

    Transplant love!
I live in Seattle WA but was born and raised in South Texas. I listen to this podcast to keep up with the political climate in my home state. I have lots of family still there so it’s good to keep up with what’s going on. I highly recommend this one. Also, it seems to cover both sides of the aisle as they discuss everything from agricultural commissioner to the governor race. It’s definitely a “must listen to.”

Insight and sarcasm -- what's not to like?
Come for the political insights, but stay for the snark! If you like your Texas political chili spiced with sarcasm that burns like fresh jalapenos, then this is the podcast for you. Thoughtful, balanced reporting that doesn't take itself too seriously. Be sure to listen all the way through, to catch the outtakes at the end of the show.

    News You Can Trust
I follow the Trib on Facebook and watch their weekly newscasts. Their interactive live newscast is a great way to catch up on important news and give feedback and get replies from the Trib broadcast live.

    Great, knowledgeable, fun
Great podcast with bright, shoe leather journalists and experts in state and local politics. My one gripe is there's too much interruption and cross-talking among the participants. It probably doesn't sound as bad to the journalists as it does to us listeners, but it's hard to keep track of what's being said when each speaker is interrupted mid-sentence.
  • mds925
    great podcast

It doesn’t get better than TribCast
TribCast is my go-to source for Texas political news and developments. I can always count on the team to answer my questions and make me laugh. It’s a privilege to hear from these folks.

Stay up to date on Texas politics (and so much more)
Though I'm a native Texan, I now live outside the state and miss it daily. I love listening to the tribcast to reduce my homesickness and keep up on politics that influence the whole nation.
  • callherdaddyfan32
    Love it! Less Evan though...JK!!!
Love the banter between all of y’all and the fact that some leaders join you on occasion. I’d love for an unleashed Straus appearance with nothing held back. Also, more Kiah, please! Miss her reporting for the San Angelo Standard Times

    I Love This Podcast!
The Texas Tribune TribCast is the one thing I look forward to every week! As a college student obsessed with understanding the evolution of Texas politics, I value media organizations, like the Tribune, that provide additional background info on complex news stories. This TribCast delivers content in a professional manner with an appropriate balance of eccentricity I adore. I HIGHLY recommend this podcast to all young people trying to get more engaged.

    Quick, informative, often amusing
I always listen, even if legislature is not in session. I get a bigger view of whole state politics thanfrom my local paper.

have not missed in 6 years
I have not missed one episode since I heard the very first one six years ago. Only regret from listening to this is not listening to it sooner every week. Great insights and thoughts. Must hear podcast for anyone who wants to know Austin better- or extremely well!

    Must Listen for Texans
Lots of good information about what's going on in Texas. Look forward to listening to it to stay up to date on what's going on in the Texas legislature.
  • Formerly a listener
    Great for Texas expatriates
If you are a Texan at heart but no longer live in the state, this is a great weekly connection to home. Highly recommended!
  • Dwight Baker
    Good when they’re behaving
It’s less of a serious podcast and more of a casual after-hours newsroom meeting at the local bar. I’m guessing a couple of these people moonlight as stand-up comedians in Austin since they spend 50% of the time cracking jokes and being silly. You want serious, less biased discussion of Texas Politics, check out the Houston Chronicle’s 'Texas Take.’ The Chronicle is mostly left-wing snobs, too, but at least they have the decency to 'pretend' to be objective.
  • Not Late For Lunch
    News or entertainment
These guys are trying to do an entertaining news cast. The problem is you can pick one or the other, so this has become neither which is disappointing considering the need for meaningful state level news and analysis. This ultimately does not provide that and is really just annoying to listen to. The people are not funny or organized in such a way to be informative.

    Great content but...
Guys - I love your podcast but please please please stop talking over each other. Please!!! Great content and topics and conversation and opinions. But the noise from talking over each other - please help.
  • JayAllenCampbell
Deserves a place in any Texan’s rotation
I downloaded this somewhat out of obligation, after deciding I needed to be up to date on news on a more local level. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it’s a really brisk, fun listen, on top of being a great source of local Texas news and analysis.
