You two are amazing, thank you for all that you do. I’m an even bigger fan now after you’ve said what needed to be said about this current administration.

Women and poc’s you missed in history
This podcast is going downhill with 75% “strong women” history topics. Please keep it balanced, your listeners need you! 2 of the last 32 episodes about white males. How long will the revenge take? Edit 4/17/2025: Gone full left. One star.

I have listened to almost every show from the very beginning of this podcast. I love that the host of the recent Spring Unearthed stated the impact of the current administration on researching history. I I think until people really understand the impact of these changes, we will not know what is lost until it is too late. However, I feel like this show continually shines the light on so many parts of history that I would not know about if these two hosts did not talk about it. They are very thorough, and I have enjoyed learning so much more about the world around me because of them. Thank you for speaking out about the impact of what we’re experiencing right now. I am so appreciative of the two of you, and even more so now.

Thank you so much for sharing about the recent obstructions by the federal government to learning. It meant a lot to hear you stand up for truth against their efforts to mislead and silence people.

    Politically slanted
Generally, when I listen to a history podcast, I expect to learn about history. There are plenty of podcasts out there that will give me a politically slanted view of current events. That’s just not what I’m looking for in a HISTORY podcast. The 4/14/2025 was unbearable. I couldn’t get through the first three minutes.

Untrustworthy due to injecting woke ideology
The hosts can't help but inject woke ideology all throughout the podcast. They've biased it so much that we can't trust they're actually talking about history, or trying to subvert history - a grave corruption. This is what the Soviets did. iHeart should consider getting hosts that won't pollute history with their leftist ideology.

Great history podcast, always a good go-to for interesting topics
I’ve been listening to the show for almost ten years, and I recommend it highly. The topics are kind of random, but I find that a plus as there are so many interesting episodes and topics that open the door on some new topic I never knew about. The hosts, current and those prior (who sometimes come up on “classic” episodes) are clearly passionate about history and go the extra mile to find aspects of stories you may not hear elsewhere…and follow-up as they learn (or “Unearth”) more! Check them out…

    Go girl!
I LOVE this show and have my masters in Stuff you Missed in History Class. I can’t explain how on your side am about your statements on April 14! I can’t imagine what will become of our world I. The next 4 years. I am scared, but as a white hetero cis-woman I am privileged, but I love many that are not! I will always fight for equality for all! Thank you for your work! Keep up the good fight!

    Amazing show, even better hosts!
Tracy and Holly, you rock! Thank you for pointing out the cruel horrors of the current administration and making it clear the direct impact it has on your listeners who enjoy learning about the past. History fans can not and should not be allowed to ignore the magnitude of influence current events have on our ability to access historical information and to learn from it!
  • kjkels
    Thank you
I’m mad too. Furious. Keep doing what you are doing and be sure to protect your work so it can’t be destroyed. It might be one of the only historical references that survives.

    Getting a little too woke
I have listened to the show for the last five years and while I have picked up on in the past that the current hosts and I have different political and ideological views… it’s been getting a little out of hand. I am all for being passionate about your own viewpoint, but episodes over the last few months are becoming hard to listen to due to political rants. I would rather that the stories be presented in a way that allows the listener to come to their own conclusions, not being told what they should think or feel about a subject. However, the subjects are usually great and it is an easy listen. I just miss how the show used to be.

    👏👏👏
Thank you for getting political this Spring 2025 unearthed. Thank you for taking a stand and retelling the truth❤️

    Love this show!
So many interesting topics that are not covered in regular history classes!

    Thank you
Thank you for speaking out today, Tracy, concerning the troubling path our leadership is taking us down to obliterate the truth about our nation. As you say it is NOT unpatriotic to know the good, bad, and the ugly in our progress as a nation. Educated and well informed people can make educated decisions, but our leadership seems intent on keeping the populace uneducated so they can blindly follow- very scary times, but I applaud you and all who have a microphone for standing up and speaking out!

    Fascinating History
Thank you for providing such a fascinating look at history and the people within it! I really appreciate how well-organized it is and that it’s a “warts and all” inclusive dive. Honestly, what is the point of exploring history if it’s just a “sanitized don’t want to possibly offend anyone” examination? Only great countries become great when they are honest about their history and grow and change because of it.
  • Vanessa241
    Nope
Couldn’t make it past 5 minutes if their voices. I like the premise but absolutely not to the hosts.

Too many Ads and not enough variety
This was one of the first podcasts I listened to and really enjoyed originally. But I feel like it’s gone downhill. The biggest complaint I have is the number of ads. It’s excessive for such a short podcast. Add in to that the listener mail at the end which can run for several minutes. They take over way too much of each episode and I find myself skipping more than I listen. On top of that the episodes feel repetitive (Unearthed, sinking ships, eponymous foods) and either condemning or pandering in how the hosts talk about the subjects. I like the hosts, don’t get me wrong. But I can’t remember the last time an episode really grabbed my attention and inspired me to read more about a subject.

    Great show, bad management
I love this show, the hosts are fantastic, it’s great to hear these overviews of topics that often don’t get mentioned in a typical history class, but I absolutely have to dock some points for the current ad situation. Some ads are necessary of course, but right now we’re listening to a 40-50 minute episode and 15-20 of it is ad copy, sometimes the same ad twice in a row. It’s too much. Updating because while the episodes are still ~30-40% ad, they seem to have fixed the hearing the same ad multiple times in a row issue.

    Woke & Condescending
I’ve tried to listen to this podcast but the two host “historians” are loathsome. Any potential is instantly obliterated by the utterly silly woke bias. History 101-level training teaches you to not use your condescending, pedantic, 21st-century theories to judge historical figures who lived hundreds of years ago. How about more fact, less opinion? I wasn’t going to mention the shrill, nasally voices, but they deserve it since most episodes involve them snidely snorting—literally snorting—at any white male historical figure. If you love modern leftist politics disguised as inaccurate “history” with a healthy dose of white lady condescension, listen & subscribe, because Tracy & Holly know far more than you.
  • gecjtwvj
Wanted to love it but too biased/“woke”
They are great storytellers but kept shifting further and further to the left with their commentary. It ultimately made this unlistenable.

    A Beautiful Show
I have learned so much. And in the darkest present day times having a podcast that is not about the current world is like a warm bath. I love Holly and Tracy. This podcast is a gift for the curious and helps get me out of my doom spiral sometimes.

Scraping the bottom of the barrel
I used to really like this show, years ago, but now it seems like they’re picking the topics that are just uninteresting. I still like the Saturday Classics and the hosts have lovely voices and personalities, but so many of the episodes in the last few years have bored me to tears
  • zpic
    Girls are too goofy
Love the subject matter but as a 75 year old woman - I find the giggling too annoying to listen to it It’s a shame as I do like most of the subjects - But there is lots to listen to on podcasts and YouTube without getting angry at their stupid comments

    Incredible & Informative- Love it!
I adore Holly and Tracy; the information they share is well-researched and presented in a fantastic way. They have integrity and in the *very rare* time they make a mistake, they will correct themselves asap. I love that they dive into lesser known historical people and events- giving a voice and recognition to those who were previously under appreciated. I have learned so much from this pod and am so thankful for it. I highly recommend!!

    Fascinating, charming, and high quality
As an avid lover of history and unusual information, this podcast seems perfect to me. The hosts are well spoken, respectful about the subjects yet fun and charming too.

    Commercial to content ratio
I really love this show and enjoy the current hosts. That said, the commercial to content ratio has become ridiculous. It seems the content has become shorter, while commercial time has become longer. Disappointing.
  • Cheese&Vino
    Great show, too many ads!
Pretty much what the title says: the program is fun and informative, but the ad breaks go on forever! Half the podcast seems to be ads for other podcasts. Otherwise, very positive
  • Wrappinglotes

    Classy and entertaining
I have listened to this podcast since before Holly and Tracy took it over. They do an incredible job of fleshing out the nuances of people, and events that shape history. Family friendly with a delightful sense of humor. I ceaselessly recommend this podcast to family and friends. They are fantastic live as well!

    Great Hosts, Wonderful Topics
I’ve been listening for years. I think you do a great job clarifying points for the listeners and overall your topics are great. I enjoy hearing archived classics as well. Thank you!
  • How Are They So Bad?
This show has gone downhill, HARD
I've tried to ignore the bad reviews and give the current hosts the benefit of the doubt, but they're just terrible, especially Holly. The only way I can keep listening to this podcast is to go back and listen to old episodes with different hosts. I don't agree with sexist "vocal fry" comments, but Holly's nervous snorting giggle fits are unpleasant and distracting. The noise can only be described as a "chortle" and most of the time I don't understand why she's doing that. Add the fact that Holly takes every opportunity to announce how she doesn't care for children and loves cats, she's the sterotypical annoying hipster. It's unbelievable to me the current hosts still have their jobs. They're just terrible.
  • weknowpleasestop
    Love this show
The hosts do a great job making history interesting and accessible. Keep up the wonderful work!
  • CANTLISTENANYMORE
    TOO MANY ADS
I understand some ads are necessary for a free podcast. But this show has so many ads it’s egregious. This show and the hosts are not nearly interesting enough to sit through so many ads. Again: I don’t mind ads on a free program; there are SO MANY ads here it’s just gross. And greedy.

    Love
As someone who loves to learn and would drink knowledge, if she could, this podcast is perfect! Thank you for giving me stuff to think about and look into!

    Interesting and fun!
I actually hated history in school. It was so dry. I love how these stories to a deep dive into something specific. I love the hosts and I learn so much! Thank you for this podcast. I recommend it to everyone.

    Love this podcast!
Holly and Tracy are the best! No one does history like them. They make history very interesting and entertaining. Been listening to them for years.
  • basiceagle
Not sure why so many complaints
    Great show
  • AbbyBabble
Great topics, not so great hosts
Giggle snort ladies might be fun in real life, but annoying as hosts.
  • erica7791
    Left-wing propaganda
These people either don’t do proper research (they are useful idiots) or they are intentionally leaving out key facts and lying about history to further a dishonest left-wing agenda. This is not real history. It’s lazy, dishonest, and untrustworthy.

How do two women have EXACTLY the same voice?? I can literally never tell who is talking. Could 100% be someone talking to herself
  • The_Tardigrade
    Major Flaws
The podcast had potential, but the hosts are annoying, not very knowledgeable, and biased. The ads are numerous. Ugh.

    Great Show, Great Hosts
A lot of people are bent out of shape about the hosts, but I’ve been listening to the Holly and Tracy episodes for years now and they do a great job at telling a story to a point where you can have a mental image playing along with the podcast. The topics are great and Holly and Tracy’s episodes are much longer in length than the early episodes which I feel makes it more comprehensive. They also connect historical figures to other episodes which is a nice added touch. They cover any history, not leaving out any topic due to bias which is hard to find. If people find them annoying they should go listen to a red pill podcast or some other rage bait that would make them feel more comfortable being miserable about small things all the time.
  • Sunny-Taylor 🎭
    THE HOSTS ARE NOT ANNOYING
Take this with a grain of salt. They are funny and they help explain history in a more relaxed way than the school environment.they respect Alana people (African American Latina Americans Native Americans )
