RichardsrkReviewI enjoy the show and all of Evan’s input. Not a huge fan of mark. Show would be a lot better if Evan had a different host.
-
TigsFanJohnDays of RoarVery well done show week after week. Awesome when Evan shoots out about three minutes of information without taking a breath!
-
Steve from WestlandGreat showsI love getting the insight and thoughts on the the Tigers’ players and prospects from Evan and Mark. The guests, especially those not from the Detroit area, are always interesting to listen to. Right now the only podcast I listen to from the Detroit Free Press. Keep up the great work Evan and Mark!
-
Everett K ChanceBest Tigers podcast 🙂Evan and Mark are great hosts, most of the guests are good too. Straightforward podcast that is exactly what it says; they talk Tigers.
-
Peter WaldoLove the showI like Mark , he doesn't sound like he is 68 , more like 48 Mike from Bay City
-
Wandering DET FanKeep that bit of info to yourselfTigers fans living and dying over every pitch, and the cohost/beat writer is watching a Netflix show in Greece instead of watching game 5?!?!
-
PF AddictLook forward to it weekly.I’ve enjoyed the weekly podcast. Best one done by any beat writers. Mark can be a bit much at times but has good insights and they call it like they see it, which I can appreciate. I hope it continues next season. You hear that Free Press bosses? Hope so!
-
Shauny Pat In The HatMy weekly guysLove Mark and Evan. Mark can be a lot for some people but he reminds me a lot of talking Tigers and all Detroit teams with my dad when he was still with us. It’s always a great weekly Tigers conversation and they pull no punches, something too many of you are uncomfortable with.
-
timtolbertAn absolute weekly listenIf you’re a Tigers fan, this weekly pod is a must listen. Great insights and they regularly pull great guests.
-
Ryan2985Beat tigers podcastBeen listening all year and they tell it like it is. Can’t stand sport podcasts that’s all positive 24/7 even when things go bad. These two get in the tigers and give them props. Great show and guests.
-
Cwilley7Excellent pod for seamheadsEvan and Mark do a terrific job breaking down the Tigers and MLB. They dive into advanced metrics to support their analysis, discuss the Tigers farm system, provide advanced looks at upcoming opponents and the previous week’s results. They typically have guests, which tend to be very good. Opposing team’s beat writers, MLB talking heads and Tigers brass have all made appearances this season. Definitely more than surface level discussions. You walk away feeling informed about the tigers major league team and the minors.
-
Chadthe3rdNumbers for needs.Annoying stats few can follow Talk Ball. Interview w Andy Dirks more like it. Glad I stayed w podcast. Great insider info. Today, 5 stars boys!
-
didjynuopfhhNot InsightfulThis isn’t a good pod in totality. You’d think given the behind the scenes insights they have, we the fans would be privy to some interesting/unknown nuggets. Instead you can listen to these two try to interpret data and play GM. Evan Petzold is a journalist, not a data analyst, and listening to him fumble over advanced metrics is a painful listen. He tries to explain what they mean in lehman’s terms but that is an impossible task for someone who clearly doesn’t understand them himself, especially how to properly analyze it. Mark is a failed scout and you can figure out why within two episodes. His takes age like warm milk and yet he still acts like the smartest guy in the room. Lots of room for improvement.
-
bdh23Mixed bagFive stars for the solid work of beat writer Evan Petzold and one for self-proclaimed “public analyst” Mark Gorosh, so we’ll go with 3 stars. Petzold does a nice job bringing his analysis and reporting on the Tigers and trying to counter the arrogant ramblings of his co-host, whose consistent features are his unhinged hatred of Tigers GM Scott Harris and his repeated references to himself in the third person.
-
TonyB507BadWhy doesn’t anyone care if Mark Gorass respects you
-
Mgoblue45677Evan is great. He makes listening to Mark tolerable.I love hearing Evan’s highly informed perspective on the Tigers each week. He is what makes listening to Mark tolerable. Mark acts like he knows more about baseball than pretty much anyone. The constant referring to himself in third person is flat out annoying. Also, Mark basically repeats himself every episode. How many more times do we need to hear that signing J.D. Martinez would have made a big difference this year? I wish that Evan could ditch Mark and find a new co-host.
-
Prhshu1222ReviewEvan is as good as anybody in the business, but whoever thought it was a good idea to include Mark who doesn’t really understand baseball and is only known for bullying people on twitter. What a waste of a show.
-
aldo montoyaYikesEasily the worst Tigers podcast I’ve come across. High school level production and you can tell these dudes don’t really follow the team.
-
Baseballdog07Great Podcast with One ExceptionLove this podcast with the exception of one major annoying flaw. Mark Goresh constantly speaks of himself in 3rd person. Normally only does it a couple times per episode, but this week he did it about 8 to 10 times and I almost had to leave the podcast and unfollow the show. If inot for this, it would be a 5 star rating.
-
DMh hrhynGood stuff! This is a weekly listen. Great content. Solid insight from both hosts. I like the dynamic between Evan and Mark with their respective Boomer and Zoomer (millennial?) energy. They don’t always agree. Nor do always agree with them. And I really appreciate that. If you’re looking for an echo chamber to always affirm your own opinion, go listen to something else. Knock yourself out with the homers on talk radio. Come here for in-depth analysis and multifaceted deep dives on Tiger baseball.
-
JohnCzech23Bleh.The only reason why I listen is because it’s slightly more bare-able than listening to Cody Stavenhagen egotistical trash podcast. This one features another egotistical, narcissist, Mark Gorosh. Who believes he is a baseball god, even though he’s never worked in a front office or has the slightest bit of qualifications, besides knowing how to use index finder on baseball-reference and looking at baseball savant pages, to critique everything in a way he’s so sure his opinion in the only one. Other than that, it’s not great, but it’s listenable. At least they’re realist when it comes to the current state of the franchise. Even though Mark has an obsession with Javier Baez, who’s the second worst hitter in all of baseball. Had to add my initial review. Mark, stop talking in the third person. You never worked in baseball, your opinions are not special or groundbreaking. You’re terrible.
-
fenway824Love Evan Petzold—Jettison Mark GoroshA listenable podcast. Love Evan Petzold’s informed and thoughtful views. Gorosh comes across as a smug know-it-all. They lack the chemistry of Turning the Corner guys. Get a better partner for Petzold and this would really soar.
-
SetgghbhbgUnlistenableMark makes this show unlistenable. Massive ego who thinks he knows everything
-
Prestone99Mark’s Ego is almost unbearableEvan is smart, informed and honest. Mark is always talking over Evan when there’s a disagreement and constantly staying “the answer is…” followed by his opinion. I’ll continue with locked on.
-
unlimitedlouIt’s …fineTigers fans don’t have many options; this and Turning the Corner are the only tolerable podcasts. While the latter is superior imo, this one at least sounds relatively professional most of the time and has some worthwhile content. I could do without the personal background stuff, but that’s whatever, I can skip forward. The real flaw of the show is definitely Gorosh’s ego. I’m glad Evan is bemused by his partner’s ridiculous hot takes and vendettas; but me? Listening to Gorosh, I wonder how this man goes through life without getting Tim Anderson’ed on a regular basis. EDIT: of course, the episode that was posted as I left the above review was actually a good one, not weighed down by the issues I complained about. Bobby Scales was interesting to hear from and I appreciated the guarded defense of Wentz. The negative fan circle jerk has gone way overboard there.
-
jkjacksonartGreat showEnjoy the discussion from different angles

Dog stuff is fakeEven is a clownCan’t trust his takes. Employee of tigers.

N1ck419Great WorkThe must listen to Detroit Tigers podcast! Very informative as well as entertaining, I never miss an episode. Thanks a lot for all the hard work you guys do! It doesn’t go unappreciated
-
MHG1Really good podcastI like a critical podcast. I don't want cheerleaders. I can get that on the awful television broadcast. Both Mark and Evan are very candid, and are not afraid to be critical. The only other Tigers podcast that I like is the one with Cody Stavenhagen from the Athletic, and he isn't afraid to criticize either. I don't understand why people want pom pom wavers. I want honesty. This podcast delivers it whether I agree with everything or not.
-
Cash361Debby downerAfter several months, I find Mark to be too much of a downer to continue to listen to this. Whatever expertise he claims is so disfigured by his all too typical Detroit cynicism that it brings me down. It’s so easy to be a cynic. It is also tiresome and predictable.
-
thisapposawfulMark is the “mark”Infuriating listen every week.
-
jjp988So disappointedIt’s wild how much promise a podcast can have, only for it to be ruined by one bad personality and easily fixable audio issues. “Thinks Like an Executive” is one of the most laughable things I’ve heard after listening to this podcast. More like, “Thinks like an executive of a hot dog stand”.
-
TigersStanGreat showIt very cool to get the inside scoop
-
compeysonMost Objective Local Tiger PodcastYes, the production quality can improve. Yes Mark pontificates arrogantly. But, hey, he and Evan really tell it like it is. Better yet, they admit past errors and don’t apologize about changing their opinions when the FACTS change. Other reviewers complain they are negative. That’s because they are discussing a worse than average team!! No cheerleading. No sucking up to ownership or management. These two really trie to be objective. Nice combo of grumpy old guy and fresh faced young reporter. They challenge each other but also come to the podcast prepared. No talking about what they ate yesterday or which players their lady friends think are cutest. An hour of straight Tiger talk based on evidence rather than hope.
-
J.R. HoeftGet a better mic and attitudeThis podcast is in serious need of improvement. The audio is poor for a professional program and while I love authenticity, there’s just a dreariness to the analysis and an aura of defeatism. Mark - get a decent USB microphone. They’relatively inexpensive.
-
HaysmathmanIf you like complaining…I gave it 3 episodes and finally had enough of Gorosh’s incessant arrogant complaining. This week even included standard old man griping about his doctors. It’s too bad as Petzold has better perspective and insight.
-
DarrenBWeissVery insightfulGorosh knows baseball
-
jilliobGood content but poor audio qualityI want to listen to this, but the audio quality is so bad, it literally hurts my ears.It sounds like they are broadcasting from a submarine. As podcast producer myself, I encourage the hosts to invest in some mics and wear headphones! Bring in a radio producer or someone who understands audio production. There are too many other professional baseball podcasts out there that sound better!
