The Book of Joe with Joe Maddon & Tom Verducci

Baseball #113

Borrowing the podcast title from their forthcoming book, three-time Manager of the Year Joe Maddon and three-time Sportswriter of the Year Tom Verducci provide exclusive insight, commentary and discussion on the MLB postseason, from the stars to the strategy.

As manager of the 2016 Cubs team that broke a 108-year championship drought, Maddon knows what it takes to navigate October pressure. Part Phil Jackson, part Yogi Berra, Maddon brings unique and entertaining takes on not just on dugout strategy but also life lessons and leadership - not to mention classic cars and rock and roll.

A five-time Emmy winner with Fox and MLB Network, Verducci has behind-the-scenes access to the players and managers throughout the postseason.

“The Book of Joe” is your home to learn - and laugh - about the real stories behind how postseason games are won and lost.

    My favorite baseball podcast!!
I’m an avid baseball fan. Joe Maddon is one of my top five favorite managers of all time! Tom Verducci is one of my favorite baseball writers… I’ve read everything he’s written through the years… for these two to pair up and do this podcast is fantastic! The interviews and the quote of the day at the end is so inspiring… the book is also fabulous… so many leadership principles that I apply every single day! This is probably my favorite baseball podcast! Thanks guys for doing this. I look forward to it every week! I always learn something from listening to it.

    Best athlete
Jim Thorpe was the greatest! Jim Brown and Bo Jackson and Leroy Keyes they were better athletes than Shohei Ohtani.Shohei is over rate and going to be over paid.Joe you overrated Shohei way too much:

    Nothing like it…
Simply the best baseball podcast in existence. Joe and Tom’s seemingly endless knowledge of the sport comes across with every word. But that doesn’t make the show. What makes the show is their willingness to dive deep into a subject, explore different, new, and unique ways to tackle a baseball decision…this is baseball for poets and philosophers…baseball for the romantic. If you’re looking for a rote breakdown of analytics and box scores, this ain’t for you. Rarely do I get to the end of a show not say “oh wow I never thought about it that way.”

    Best podcast out there! But….
Joe and Tom-lay off the the fawning all over the Dodgers, please! It’s gotten embarrassing. Ohtani’s contract structure is terrible for the health of the game and proves he doesn’t have the killer instinct to be a winner a la MJ, Kobe, Jeter etc.
