Just finished listening to The Scramble for Africa & Congo’s Genocide. I’ve been advocating for the people of Congo but wasn’t sure where to look for a comprehensive breakdown on the history leading to the current exploitation of the Congolese people. This episode was incredibly thorough, a ton of info organized so well that it didn’t feel overwhelming to digest. My heart is with the people of the Congo, for what they face now and what they’ve endured for over 100 years. Thank you for this phenomenal history lesson! Can’t wait to listen to more 🖤🇨🇩

The bad reviews you’re seeing are indicative of Andre’s brilliance. He’s not afraid to tell the truth— and apparently, people get reaaaaaaal butt hurt about the truth. Meanwhile, our host Mr. White exceeds expectations as a consummate storyteller and researcher and offers keen insight to the pieces of history we’re all missing. Facts matter, as it turns out!

I am a history buff and read voraciously. I recently found this podcast and thoroughly enjoy listening to it. I have learned so much.

I have been wanting to find a podcast so I could learn some history that explains current events, so I’m very glad I found this podcast. The host Andre does a great job of going through the history- plenty of detail, but not too much to be excessively long and drag on.

Great show with good content. We need more shows like this that give real history.

This podcast is so well-researched. It’s informative without being clinical. Nay, I would argue a good job is done reminding us of our humanity! thoughtful enough to serve also as a guide to maybe how not to be an a-hole without being preachy/snarky. Gosh it’s good.

Andre relates all the interesting details that help us put ourselves in the situation of the individual being highlighted in the episode. I completely agree that learning the history of whites in public school is an incomplete education. So much more interesting to know the full history and know all the brave black men and women who did the right thing even though their country didn’t respect them.

I listen to a lot of history podcasts and this is one of my favorites. The host is engaging and the writing is always interesting with good pacing. The show is well researched and offers anecdote to the saccharine history that is so often distorted to reflect the views of people in power. Whether you’re a serious American history aficionado or a casual listener looking to learn something and be entertained, check out this show.

As a fellow Black scholar pursuing a degree in history, i find it great that there is a podcast that delves into the history that our education systems deem “less than relevant”. André White, a historian and man to emulate.

you can tell he really cares about the podcast and sheds light on history that is not taught in school! every time i listen to an episode, even if i am familiar with the topic, i always learn something new. everyone needs to listen to this podcast to learn more about black history around the world.

This is not history. This is a person twisting history to push a narrative.

Well researched stories from history that have for the most part been papered over and need to be told. However this podcast tends to view too much of current events from a perspective of racism. I believe the truth is a complex mosaic of poverty, oppression, victimization, institutionalization, distrust, identity, disrespect, and yes, racism. These issues can only be addressed through understanding and acceptance of the complete picture, and I don’t see that here.

I love learning all the history that was left out of the traditional American education. Vital podcast if you want to better understand the forces that have brought us to our current state. Leaving this review as a birthday gift for Dr. Andre.

I truly enjoy listening to the podcast. The history shared is not always mainstream and you learn something new. The speaker does a great job with storytelling.

I was hooked almost instantly. Fascinating subject matter and incredibly listenable narration. I tend to prefer conversation-style podcasts because narrated ones sometimes lack personality, but that certainly isn’t the case here. It feels like the audio track to a very well-made documentary.

These podcasts provide additional information of events that is critical to a true understanding of our history.

The podcast is fantastic. I am a black woman that wants to hear about my history but afraid of the negative feelings that I get after hearing the injustice and cruelty imposed on blacks. I have to interact with whites and I just don’t want hate in my heart. Not necessarily for them but for their ancestors. However, this podcast explains history in a story like way without harsh words or making me feel some type of way. I actually laugh at some of the comments. I am so glad I downloaded this podcast and enjoy listening about people I’ve never heard of or the untold stories of the once’s I do. ❤️🔥

Learning about this enlighten brother from tik tok, I am always learning something new from his channel and his podcast. Just when I thought I knew what I knew, Mr Andre always take it a step further. I can listen to this podcast all day long and just engulf knowledge of our history. Please keep up the good work !
