As discussed in the episode with Austin Walker, it’s a bit of an austere era for games crit and games news media in general. That’s why I appreciated Phillip and Ben’s conversation with Austin: games exist in the world, and making those connections between themes, mechanics, and people can tell us so much more about the work. This podcast is one to watch — thanks to the hosts.

Awesome new show, and an easy listen. As someone who’s not even a gamer, I found this first episodes themes of death positivity super interesting. Dig the hosts too, ready for more 🤙🌞

Phil and Ben present intriguing and nuanced stories that you never knew you needed to hear! I’m a novice game player, listen to the same music on repeat, read a lot of books and other content, but I love hearing about the backstories and ways in which the things we consume emerge and/or are produced from the perspective of the creators. Something truly special happens when two smart nerds with good radio voices decide to dig deeper into the personal histories of how things get made—plus, they’re pretty funny! Excited to hear more.
