    Bach’s Chaconne showing up lots…
Started this podcast recently as I have returned to violin lessons as an adult since putting the instrument down as a high schooler. It has been a great supplement to my learning since I started back. My son and I heard a young man play the Chaconne at one of his Suzuki recitals and I’ve become somewhat obsessed with the piece. For anyone who loves to listen to it and would be interested in hearing a different instrument’s voice on it, there’s a great arrangement for two guitars played by the Beijing Guitar Duo available on YouTube and elsewhere.

    Great content
I am an adult learner sporadically for nearly two years without direction. I stumbled upon your podcast and it has been very helpful. Although I seem to gravitate towards fiddle music I also enjoy classical. I do plan to arrange lessons soon. Thank you

    Begin again violinist
I am a violinist wanting to begin playing again, but haven’t taken lessons and played in two decades. I was so delighted to find this podcast and it is encouraging, and informative. Just what I was looking for!!

    I am learning a lot!
The things I have taken from these episodes has helped me practice much more efficiently. That in itself is a skill and This podcast has helped me improve by giving me ways to structure my endeavor. I found myself saying, “Yeah that tracks” with some of the things I am going through in relation to topics covered here. If you are an adult beginner highly recommend this podcast.

    Love this podcast!
I started seriously learning violin at age 45 and have found this podcast immensely helpful. There’s practical advice on how to incorporate regular practice into a busy life with career and children as well as encouraging information on how you benefit as an adult learner. This podcast has also increased my confidence that I can learn violin as an adult and turn this into a meaningful hobby.

Violin Overview for Newer Adult Player
I LOVE THIS PODCAST! I decided to pick my violin back up after about 50 years! Julia provides foundational practices and history for playing classical violin as well as instrument care. She also interviews performers and teachers from jazz to Celtic disciplines. A very well rounded resource, especially for adult learners. Today I started listening from the beginning episodes where she put together a Spotify playlist of basic repertoire. Can’t wait to enjoy and study THAT!

As an adult learner, I love this podcast so much!
Really enjoy the perspective in this podcast— very self aware and understanding of issues that beginners face. It’s very refreshing to hear when your violin problems aren’t experienced by you alone. I’ve been playing for about 2 months (maybe a total of 30 hours so far) and this feels like such a motivating supplement to my practice sessions and my lessons. Thank you!!!

Helpful for me as a teacher
I’ve been getting back into violin teaching after having kids and have been nervous about not knowing how to do it “right.” This podcast has been so grounding! I have learned so much from listening to her talk about teaching violin. She has a great coaching mindset- something I was not taught with but really want to impart to my students!

My violin is enjoying getting out of the case every day.
I’m an older beginner/intermediate violin student. Less than a week ago I found this podcast. About six weeks ago I decided to start taking lessons from a local violin teacher. I started watching online videos to see how to get more out of my practice sessions. I walk 3 miles in the morning every day and watching videos while I walk didn’t seem like very good idea considering tripping hazards, etc. During one of my walks I decided to search Apple podcasts to see what was available for violin. That is when I found this podcast. While I’m out on my morning walk I listen to this podcast and sometimes have to take out my phone and start jotting down notes or looking up information on what Julia’s talking about. While on my walks I’ll listen to one or two of Julia’s podcasts. I have just finished the eighth podcast and decided to give a favorable rating because I am honestly enjoying this podcast and am learning from it. Julia Reddy is helping me with my violin journey. I enjoy listening to this podcast because she gives me useful information and inspires me to play better.

    Exactly what I want
Go through the episodes and just find one that looks interesting, it’s great. I’m an adult beginner and it was really nice to find a podcast that addressed my situation. It’s informative, motivating, and realistic. It mixes talking techniques , mechanics and a splash of violin lifestyle which is awesome. This is the first review I’ve done but it’s because I’m glad to have this as a resource. There are some hard cuts on the editing side but that’s really not critical to the content provided and will work itself out in time. Thanks for the podcast.

Ready to dust off my violin
I began playing violin at age 9, playing through college and a bit beyond. I’m now almost 50 and am now wanting to dust off my violin and take it up again. I’m a new listener, but I have enjoyed the tips provided. Right away I jumped to the episodes of how to get back into it. I’ve also considered dabbling in Irish fiddling, so I love that there is an episode on that too. Most importantly, the podcast is very down-to-earth and not condescending. I’m really enjoying it!

There’s really nothing else like this!
The adult student/learner is severely underserved. This podcast, though, caters to the adult and I look forward every episode!

    Amazing for adult beginners!!
I am so excited that this podcast is back with new episodes for the fall. I recently started learning violin and it’s nice to have a podcast directed at hobby players because most podcasts focus on those who are studying professionally.

    Great for the Aspiring Violist
Recently picked up violin (I’m 29) and have played guitar for 20 years. Man, it’s quite a learning curve! But that’s just part of the rewarding journey; nothing great comes easy. Working full time as a product designer, this podcast has been extremely helpful to fit into my 50+ hour schedule, from learning about maintenance to practice tips. Highly recommended resource for the busy student to get some quality content on-the-go.

    Perfect for adults
This is a perfect podcast for adults who want to learn, or get back to playing the violin. She gives great advice on purchasing a violin to exercises you can do to build back up from long breaks. Julia is very knowledgable, communicates this knowledge very well.

    You can do it!!
If you are doubting your ability to learn as an adult violin student, this podcast will set your mind at ease! Julia and her guests are here to get rid of the myth that says if you didn’t start playing when you were 3 you’ll never be good. I highly recommend this show to adult violin students of all genres!
