Missy4630Not a fan ofI like Derrick but I can do without Stephanie and her opinions. I only listened to one episode and it was enough for me. If he has a podcast without her, I would listen.
-
JillianCStephanie is annoying!Stephanie is so annoying and obnoxious. Talks down to Derrick like she knows it all.

oh you might know me as yogi bearSolved or unsolved?Wrote in notes if case is solved or unsolved. Waste of time for those of us who don’t listen to unsolved. It’s not that difficult. What a waste of time. He is a pompous jerk.

PERRY1Dude LOVES his own voiceFirst I'd heard of Iowa 4 texts and 911. Could have been intriguing and informative. They went on, with their insipid droning opinions, for almost TEN MINUTES just about the dispatch situation! The guy can't help but constantly interject how he did that job once, he's a dad (ok...), he's been in one similar position or another, &, all, again, his opinion. Just speaking to hear his own voice, while adding zero value to the story. Someone please give him attn at home! He hurt my ears.

realgayofatlantaDisappointedDerrick your comment about the border was low

Longview IL FanIdaho 911 CallHaving had to call 911 more than once for my husband the more compassionate the 911 operator was the calmer I was getting through the crisis. This woman had NO compassion at all and as Stephanie commented sounded like a robot. It actually made me extremely frustrated listening to her.

Jules726Always interestingI’m always invested in the deep dive and conversation you get from this podcast!! This one on JCs mysterious murder has me really puzzled. He seems like a guy with a lot of enemies, maybe one hired people to kill him and part of that payment was “ And you can rob his nephew next door, they’re drug dealers and have cash in the house all the time” wouldn’t be the first time promise of things to rob is used as partial payment in a hit.

Abigail*MarieAddictedI wonder who else in the grocery store has murder-death-kills in their ears while they pick out apples? I found this pod a couple of years ago after listening to Serial and getting wrapped up in the Hae Min Lee case. Then I followed them into the Summer Wells case… my lands! I was hooked. The depth they go into, multiple episodes, ALL the content is perfect for my long rides, runs, grocery trips, house chores…. Uhhh everything. A little addicted.

YaditexasStephanie Vindigni is insufferable and Derrick is disingenuousThey have a lot of undertones of xenophobia, especially when it comes to Mexico, very obvious when it comes to Stephanie's mouth, and derricks silence speaks volumes

DC🖤Forever FanLove this podcast, love a strong woman who isn’t afraid to speak her mind and a real man who isn’t intimidated by a strong woman! I love the dynamic, I love how in depth each case goes, and I will continue to listen as long as you continue to release new content.

Katya&SalemIncredible Work!Stephanie and Derrick are INCREDIBLE hosts who are doing great work for victims and their families. Negative reviewers simply don’t like hearing a strong woman talk 🙄 Both Stephanie and Derrick are sensitive to all sides of the conversation. It’s so obvious these two truly care about how their work impacts the true crime space and I cannot express enough how grateful for every episode. We need more people like Derrick and Stephanie in the world. ❤️

ashmatt817TRUE Crime TalkIf you just want to hear the story of the crime, this podcast isn’t for you. If you want to take a deeper dive of all evidence and theories of a crime, this is a great one! This is my favorite true crime podcast! Crime Weekly would not be Crime Weekly without Stephanie AND Derrick. (Sorry Derrick, YOU’RE WRONG!) Furthermore, these reviews that are negative towards one or the other are missing the point. Their professional and personal differences add depth and character to the show. Personally, I enjoy when Derrick “mansplains” techniques for collecting evidence or how investigations work. This POV from the investigator is eye opening. Often times I am agreeing with Stephanie then Derrick explains how that’s actually possible or why an investigator did this or that and it changes my theory. If they agreed on every aspect of the crime, it would be just any other true crime podcast. This isn’t a retelling of the crime; allow for some personality to show. Stephanie gets a little opinionated but she is the voice in our head; the POV of an average person listening to the episode. We don’t like Casey or Jose (any many more). I truly enjoy their bickering back and forth, Criminal Coffee chat, and “nothing burgers”. Keep up the great work!

soch2000A learning toolMy dude seriously said their show is a learning tool lol. You are clueless and full of yourself if you think people aren’t listening to true crime for entertainment .
-
Chelle_Johnson_RNWOW !!!!I started listening because I looked up a specific case I wanted to learn more about. This podcast now has me in a chokehold. I am obsessed & it is now my favorite crime podcast !!!!!!
-
jrndjndndkjdjdfExceptionalI constantly search for new crime casts that I love. This one is my favorite by far. I wish there was more like this one. The research, and the detective perspective puts this podcast ahead of all others. I was introduced to this by I friend only a year ago, so I have been able to listen to almost all previous. More please

ShmelbzzSay Dopamine More…I’ve always gone back & forth on my opinion (& ability to tolerate) Stephanie’s obvious bias & harsh judgments of the characters in the cases she discusses. It’s easy to nod along when she’s bashing the obvious bad guys. It’s easy to like it when she’s dishing out the tea on the clear villains stupid life decisions. It gets harder to keep listening when the situations aren’t so black & white. I think the whole Gypsy Rose saga may have been the straw that broke the camels back for me tho. Right off I’ll say that I def do not think Dee Dee deserved to die b/c of anything she did. No one should pay with their life for anything they may have done. However, the light in which Stephanie framed Dee Dee was just gross. She basically said she thought she was a mom who only medically abused her child in order to ensure Gypsy has the chance to have experiences & opportunities that Dee Dee wouldn’t have been able to give her. Uhhh what?! Idk where her opinion came from about Dee Dee, but I know it wasn’t from a deep understanding or personal knowledge of their life or why she did anything she did. What can be proven? Well, at the very least, we know there’s a video of Gypsy with a shaved head (which Darrick correctly mentioned is abuse), which Deedee did to pretend Gypsy had cancer. We know Gypsy’s dental hygiene was so neglected that her teeth were decaying & had to be pulled out. Those facts alone prove that she was at the very least neglected to the point of abuse. I’ve also found more recent info claiming that the only provable medical conditions that Gypsy’s has were/are a lazy eye (albeit to an extreme) & sleep apnea. So it dang sure seems to me like Gypsy’s rose was medically abused. Then she goes on to say things like “why didn’t she just leave if she was so unhappy?” Why don’t DV victims leave their partners who are their abuser? It’s pretty high handed to say that about anyone abused. Also would you let Derrick give his final thoughts without interrupting him with your thoughts every fricken time? He usually doesnt say a peep while you’re ranting & raving on your final thoughts. Like Jesus let someone else talk for a minute without trying to push your opinion on them (& us). & just b/c you have a psychology degree Stephanie, it doesn’t mean you’re an expert on all things psychological. Some of the statements you make prove that, but it just seems like you want everyone to know you have some psychology background. It makes you less relatable (which I’m sure you don’t care about tbf). I’m positive if you have a doctorate you’d be one of those people who insist on people calling you “dr so & so” 🙄. I think I need a break from crime weekly in conclusion lol.

LickButterNot badNot a bad podcast but after listening to the Kyron Horman episode, I was a little turned away because of the way Stephanie acted. Dear god you are the most biased person I have ever heard on a podcast. Please stop throwing your two cents in about hating the mother. I’m giving you guys 3 stars because it’s still a pretty good podcast.

I Need A Cheeseburger ASAPRey Rivera SeriesI’ve been listening to this podcast for a while, as I really appreciate the detail and time involved with researching the tragedies that are discussed. Stephanie goes to great lengths to connect the dots and evaluate theories, especially for this case. Derek, is insensitive and annoying and sometimes condescending to Stephanie and quick to dismiss her point of view. This particular episode touches on mental illness and suicide. It’s clear that Derek doesn’t have a lot of experience with this subject and is uncomfortable accepting the unknown factors with mental health crises that contributed to Mr. Rivera’s death. Derek, there is no right or wrong way to commit suicide. The act of suicide doesn’t always include a note to explain why, the decedents estate planning guidelines or financial security for the loved ones. Stephanie could easily do this podcast on her own or with someone else who isn’t a know it all who knows nothing at all.

lmm84117Bear Brook Murders Ep 1As a 23 year veteran working in child welfare (not in California), I can say we try to keep a child in a home they comfortable with. But we are required to do full criminal and abuse history checks. So, if the family Lisa was with had negative results on either of these checks, could explain why she was not allowed to stay with them.

zenspiralA Mismatched PairI am a long time listener and have waited quite awhile to post a review just in case my opinion changed. It hasn’t. This pairing of hosts is completely mismatched. Stephanie is clearly doing all of the research and writing and she is stellar at both. Derek only chimes in with his opinions as a former cop who still seems to think he is an expert on any crime. He nearly every episode goes into lengthy diatribes about all of the possibilities of motives and chains of events that are only his opinions. There are hundreds of possibilities for everything so why take up so much time talking about, as Derek is so fond of repeatedly saying, a “nothing burger “. By the way, Derek and Stephanie, your audience is probably exclusively adult. The whole stupid premise of not disclosing what your next series will be is childish. Stop being condescending to the audience who pays your bills. I’m also disappointed that you get pleasure from capitalizing on the crimes by profiting off the victims by participating in Crime Con and hawking your private coffee company. Stephanie, girl, break out fully on your own.

MyLoveHarryBabyUNDERCOVER PINEAPPLEAfter the Menendez show came out on Netflix, I became obsessed all over with the case and wanted to find a podcast who deep dived into the case. When I found crime weekly I became HOOKED. I listen to the case and started finding new long series y’all did and went down the rabbit hole. Now I’m starting from episode 1 and listening to this podcast everyday. I LOVE the depth y’all go to give your viewers the full pictures. You and Morbid are my favs❤️thanks for the laughs, tears and love y’all provided!

hill.e.jRey Rivera Final EpisodeThank you for including the DM from the physicist, because it is true that neither of you studied this science. This is especially clear when Stephanie said it is “not probable” that Rey could run 10mph. That is the max speed on most treadmills, and I guarantee that most active adults could run that speed for a short distance. The guy who DM’d laid out exactly how Rey running then jumping is extremely doable, and he would end up where he was found. You guys keep referring to the possibility that he was hit by a vehicle. A pedestrian hit by a vehicle will generally (there are a lot of factors that affect it) but they will generally be flung at the same velocity as the vehicle. i.e. if Rey was hit by a vehicle and flung at a distance consistent with a 10mph speed, the vehicle that struck him would have been moving at 10mph. Which, I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure most of us could dodge a car moving that slow. Rey’s death is not that big of a mystery. He was suffering some kind of mental health crisis, and he jumped to his death. Why he did that, what he thought he would accomplish by doing that, what his exact mental health struggle was: these are mysteries. But Rey was not murdered. I see 0 evidence of that.

rachelledottieOne of the best true crime podcasts!I love this show because of the different perspectives: Stephanie is relatable as so many of us interested in true crime really get into these stories and Derrick knows the legal background. Interesting to hear from both!
-
Erica EytzenStarted with Crime Weekly in 2020…Started listening in 2020. The ads are to ridiculous and long to listen anymore. This latest episode over 4 minutes into the episode they still hadn’t hit their crime weekly intro music…
-
sugarjakson❤️I do not understand some of the harsh comments below. I really do love listening to both of you. I appreciate all of the research that goes into each episode. I enjoy the discussions and the views expressed by both of you. Y’all do an awesome job. Keep up the amazing job! ✌🏼❤️🕵🏻♀️

Kittykate2Interesting topics if you care to listen to the ongoing jabberStop mansplaining, please! You are both so knowledgeable but I can’t listen to the continuous mansplaining so had to keep fast forwarding…. finally just had to stop listening all together without hearing all the info on the story
-
Em9677Great workLove how much time you put into your research. Thank you
-
KirmahiDon’t waste your timeWas looking for a Caylee Anthony deep dive and really tried to give this podcast a chance but wow it is so bad. I suffered through 2 episodes at 1.25 speed and fast forwarded through whenever the guy said his rambling nonsense opinion that does nothing for the show except add unnecessary minutes to it and I still couldn’t make it through a full 3rd.
-
LP727Excellent Podcast!New listener…Great interaction between the hosts. Interesting content and thoughtful discussions. Thorough presentation and well produced.

kelsonicholeBest True Crime PodI love how in depth Stephanie’s research goes, I never find myself having a question about a case going unanswered, unless it’s something that is literally unknowable. I love how Derrick and Stephanie can disagree respectfully on things, and it never feels contentious. Love this podcast and would highly recommend to anyone who likes true crime :)
-
Elle-on-EarthGreat podcast if you like man-splainingStephanie is fine but Derrick mansplains everything.
-
LinnylougieJulie JensenStephanie explains the abuse so well. The gaslighting, the trauma bond, alllll of it. It was a bit triggering to listen to because I’ve lived this type of abuse but felt I needed to, to honor Julie. I made it out, I wish she would’ve too.
-
