khrissblissLOVE>FEAR Donnie DarkoMEGA major disservice to listeners to dismiss the FEAR>>>LOVE spectrum in Donnie Darko. Fear is what divides us Love is what unites us. A. Crowley described it well. Fear of others- other people, other ideas, other things- become like dark veils which obscure our consciousness. As they part, we develop Love for another human, strangers, animals, plants, minerals until we apprehend it is all a unified cosmos. It's analogous to the mechanism in analysis (breaking data into pieces) vs. synthesis (unifying knowledge into grander facts).

owil1414A humble request to cover Ice PrincessHuge fan of the podcast! I just had Big Feelings re-watching Ice Princess and humbly request that you cover it since it’s such a good fit for the podcast. Rationale includes: 1 - Sarah’s love for figure skating 2 - Kim Cattrall plays a character named Tina Harwood, an obvious stand-in for Tonya Harding (who has a redemption arc over the course of the movie) 3 - Surprisingly poignant portrayal of mothers and daughters 4 - Credits roll. Cue Unwritten. 5 - Timely given the unfortunate loss of Michelle Trachtenberg Full disclosure I was 7 years old when this movie came out so the nostalgia is strong but I think there’s enough for you to discuss regardless. Thanks for the consideration and all you do!

julipaigeLiterally revived my spiritI’ve listened casually on and off for 3 years now. As a girl with big feelings, this past week I had such a rough time to the point of emotional paralysis, and then I turned on the Mulan episode and it lifted my spirits so much! It’s so fun to revisit childhood movies, but I also shared it with my sibling who’s also on a gender journey. I just needed to say thank you, it was one of those classic moments where I’m reminded to take care of myself and my inner child in order to carry on and help others in my little world. I’m incredibly grateful for the conversations you have, and how much care and love is so obviously present in your work. Thank you, Alex. Sending my love to LA. You are good 🫶

ImsocktasticA Soft Movie PodcastI just love how gentle this podcast is. The hosts and guests are unfailingly kind and respectful of people like themselves and unlike themselves. And when I heard about the ceasefire, this podcast was the first thing I thought of because Alex always made a note of supporting ceasefire in the opener. And I was waiting for the first episode after that announcement and was so pleased to see him acknowledge it (though, as I think most of us are, with some caution). I look forward to every single episode and if you listen, you will, too.

Hold Hands & KumbayaThank YouThank you for avoiding commercials as much as you can for as long as you can. Thank you for such kind, open voices and feelings that validate and entertain and stir perspective. Thank you for being voices I can stretch, sleep, and work to. I love finding new and new old movies that, love assessing movies I know, and love you all involved in this.

GemdreamA JOYThis podcast is simply a joy to listen to. Smart, funny, kind-hearted: like a light in the darkness, or the witty best friend you’ve always wanted. Plus, the subscribers’ episodes are excellent.

CardanCPure comfort‘A feelings podcast about movies’ is the most apt description possible. Listening to Alex and Sarah converse is like a warm hug. I love the content but I honestly think I could just listen to them talk about anything.

Brudd3788We invented irony. We invented being gay and getting paid for being gay.
-
a198612061Do you want a warm hug every week?I never care if I have seen or even heard of the movie. I love that there’s a rotating cast of guests so it feels like a group of friends that I’m not really in? But they let me hang out at the edge of the group like a younger sibling sometimes.
-
oboydFavorite podcastI feel less alone when Sarah and Alex talk about their insecurities, reference “Are You Being Served?”, and talk me into rewatching movies from my childhood that I’d never realized were so impactful!
-
eringobraghlesssMy favorite podcast!I love this podcast SO much, probably bc Sarah Marshall is a hilarious genius )and we have identical taste in 90s/early 2000s movies.) Alex is also good in spite of being a man on a podcast. I look forward to smart, nuanced discussion every week from Sarah, Alex, and their always fantastic guests.
-
thebaerfetusEvery Second, All My LoveI listen to each moment of this pod because it is so positive and witty and fun (even the intro, Alex, ref. Wayne's World episode)! An easy listen with great things to learn about things we already enjoy. Perfection.

Kjo223One of my favorite podcasts of all timeI love listening to my peers talk about movies I’ve loved my whole life and have used to shape my personality and worldview, for better or worse. It’s fun to unpack all that through a gentle and introspective lens.
-
Thank you, you are good!Party Time ExcellentJust listened to the Waynes World episode - such a joy. The nostalgia, the laughter, the insight. Long time listener but had to pop in here to recommend a listen to that episode specifically , then go ahead and carry on from there. ❤️

annarosie327Chef’s KissLong time fan, first time reviewer. Sarah and Alex are simply the best there ever was. So smart, hilarious, insightful, caring, self aware but not self congratulatory. All the good things humans can be. Xoxo, 1 of the 12 people who listen (and love) Alex’s Intros

BlairSFYou are good is the goddess good I gotI love this show. For its content and context, but mostly bc Sarah and Alex are such good company. I always feel like I’m in conversation with them and their guests. I love when they talk about my fave movies and I get to feel so seen and connected around how those movies made/make me feel! And I love when they watch scary stuff I won’t and then safely explain it to me so that I don’t have to actually see it but don’t miss out on all the thoughts and feels and cultural references/impacts! Love yall. You ARE GOOD!
-

bomalley21For all those with daddy issues (which is everyone)There is no better way to start your day than hearing Alex Steed telling you “you, my friend, are good.” Every episode is a different emotional journey, with lovely guides in the hosts and guests.
-
LittleworldcunninglyThank you for talking about PalestineI’ve always loved this show. I love laughing and occasionally crying with each of you and your guests. That’s why is such a huge relief to hear you start recent episodes by calling for a ceasefire and raising awareness of organizations like Jewish Voices for Peace. It’s been heartbreaking realizing how many of my beloved creators don’t seem to care about the genocide of Palestinians. 🍉

Lil' FreemLike chatting with old friends…and even better when you love the movie du jourWhen you sit down with friends to talk about media that you both love, the conversation will almost always go off topic and touch on life experiences, memories (good and bad), and the (sometimes dark) sense of humor that we use with friends and family. That’s what You Are Good is like. Every episode is little joining a conversation with friends you’ve known since childhood. Even when the topic du jour is a movie that doesn’t speak to me, I still enjoy the conversation. When it IS a movie I know and love, the episode is a chock full of times when I wish I could yell back “ME TOO!” when Sarah, Alex,

AbbyoliviaJust loveI just love you guys so much. So so much. Listening feels like home.

horseblanketI love this podcastI love this podcast. The more episodes I listen to, and the older I get (the same age as Alex), the more I realize how atomized I am from my friends and family, and how I’m getting crushed by the culture I live in. It’s like a therapy session for me. I can’t count how many times I’ve felt the tears well up when Sarah and Alex share their feelings and stories about the movies, and life in general. I think about the relationship that I have between myself and my only son, and how hard I have to work to be there for him. I loved the Holes episode. I love The Shining episode, and all the Stephen King centered episodes generally. I feel more human and see the work that I still need to do, and I’m reminded that I am good. Thank you.

Horsefan101gggggGreat way to revisit movies that you lovePlease revisit Burlesque given that it’s basically the story of Kamala/Xtina taking over for Joe Biden/Cher to save their failing burlesque venue/democracy
