ArethaBoomThe Best Interviewer In the GameHands down the best. Al’s questions and observations are always sophisticated and resonate with audiences expert and novice. I especially appreciated the September 5 interview, which was handled with much more nuance and acknowledgement of the ongoing issues than I could have been. I may have no sympathy for Palestine and their barbarian tactics and culture, but I appreciate that the interview was conducted to sway in nether direction, which is essential for journalism.

littlebird1983Please Stop.I have listened to and loved this podcast for years. I come here to escape the world news media insanity political opinions of every one etc… and now this is slipping into that and out of the purity of scripts, film and writing. We don’t want ANY of your ideology or narrative pushed on us as subtle as you may think you’re doing. It’s not. Please keep it neutral on point and welcoming to all people.

BrownieSamsonGood, but says guests’ names too muchI enjoy his thoughtful questions but he says the guest’s name waaaay too much. I know he’s being earnest but addressing Alexander Payne as Alexander 15 times in 30 minutes is unnatural

EcrivantMore movies pleaseI’m sure it can’t be easy to get these writers on your show, but each is so insightful and I love hearing the thought process of these successful writers. Appreciate both the respectful, but not fawning, interviewing and the generosity in sharing their process. I just wish there were more…

knocknameyFantastic. The best screenwriting podcast.Al’s questions are always very thoughtful and draw out insightful answers from his guests. I find I have to stop the episodes every few minutes because there are SO MANY good ideas I need to joy down. Brilliant show, brilliant guests. Also: totally professional production. The best! Bravo.

HtrostleLove What I can HearI’m really enjoying these interviews and am glad I found this podcast. Only thing is I have a really hard time with the volume. I have my speaker (that I listen to other interview pods on without issue) maxed out, and I still really struggle to catch a lot of what is said. Please adjust mixing levels so I can enjoy the whole ep!

DK360Hard Core FeministCommon man, You're distorting the narrative by characterizing every male character as a preditor. Its beyond obvious youre pushing your ideals on listeners and sometimes testing the limits with the writers you interview. Please give it a rest. Its much more unsafe being a man. We do all the dangerous jobbs and die in way in greater numbers. Leave it alone. Other than that, its great.

HzgpxofzAbsolutely Inspiring! As a college student who is an aspiring screenwriter it is amazing to hear these stories and be inspired by industry professionals. It’s also great to be exposed to amazing tools to use as a screenwriter who is still getting their feet wet in the industry. Script Apart has been my daily listen and I absolutely love it!

iliketolaugh5432110/10I enjoy hearing the inception of these stories.

KayrahraeI love almost everything about this5/5 stars for the insanely cool content but I’m begging the creator to read this: I find it super difficult to listen when you are talking because your mic pics up everything. I can hear ever mouth sound, like how moist your mouth is and it’s MADDENING like I can hear the moistness of your lips separating when you speak please fix 😭

Tishie BonnanoAddictiveSo fun and informative to hear the inspiration and evolution in writing some of my favorite movies. Al is a gifted interviewer and brings out the creative best in his guests.

alexis-learns-screenwritingThe best interviewerThis is absolutely my favorite interview style screenwriting podcast. I’ve listened to so many interviewers talk with screenwriters and Al is SUCH an amazing interviewer. The balance of being personable, respectful, asking the best questions and bringing out the the best answers from the interviewee without overly inserting himself into the conversation/interrupting/etc. These interviews are informative, delightful, and so helpful for an emerging screenwriter. I can actually relax while listening instead of being filled with secondhand social anxiety like I normally am. Ha. Thank you Al for being so wonderful!
-
JamaicanPalefaceInsightful and inspiring.Well done Al. You dive deeper than Tom Daley and unpick the tangle of screenwriting so we can learn from other writers’ experience, where they were, what they were thinking, what was going on around them, and how they got the story from script to screen. Writing can be a solitary calling and you create a feeling of community. Thanks.

kail is beatifullHookedLoved the Dead Poet’s Society episode. The writer is so humble. This movie changed my life for the better. I mean I’m literally a different person than I would have been had I not seen the movie at 15. Much Love!

Charles Dye“Needless to say, there won’t be a Script Apart episode on CRASH anytime soon. (snicker)” –Al Horner“Needless to say, there won’t be a Script Apart episode on CRASH anytime soon. (snicker)” –Al Horner. What were you thinking? Wow. Needless to say… you weren’t. Clean this up, Al. Awesome job scoring points with your guest, whose film lost to Crash at the Oscars. But classless job leaving it in the episode.

NearysTowerA wonderful podcast for film loversThis has quickly become one of my favorite podcasts. Imagine being able to attend a Q&A with the writers of your favorite movies, where they answer questions about how they transformed unpolished nuggest of ideas into the amazing final screenplays we love, hosted by a likable, intelligent moderator. I just saw an episode for Terminator 2 appear in my feed and was so excited to listen, I knew it was time for me to leave this review as a recommendation and a thank you.
-
Andbobuiop67ExcellentA ton of great guests and it’s not as educational as you may except but the long form convo really opens up the writers and you get a lot of interesting tidbits. Plus it’s pretty funny
-
strandedReally enjoyableOne solid episode so far, good interview with a lot of perspective on the story development process. Looking forward to more.
-
CoolgrampsGood.Not bad. Swell.

CWG10Incredible insight on the writing processThis podcast is already going to be one of my favorites. It’s got tons of inside knowledge and pointers on the process of screenwriting.
