Nature #101

Taking you into the field to discover the world of bat conservation. BatChat is for anyone who loves bats or has an interest in the conservation of these fascinating mammals. Ecologist and Bat Conservation Trust Trustee Steve Roe takes you on-location, talking to the experts as well as local heroes to bring you the latest from the world of bats.

Series 6 is out now with episodes released every other Wednesday. In this series we travel to Northumberland to visit the UK's largest-known winter hibernation roost of pipistrelle bats, to Pembrokeshire to talk to the woman who discovered the first barbastelle bats in Wales and to the creator of a groundbreaking bat detector that's making waves in the bat conservation community.

Love Sharing What I Learn with My Students
I found the Bat Chat podcasts a few days ago and am thoroughly enjoying it. I have been studying bats since the 1990’s as a elementary teacher. I hope to make a positive impact by teaching all of my second grade gifted students to be Bat Ambassadors through our year long study of chiroptera. My hope is that they will change the misconceptions and teach their children of the importance of bats. As I live north of Atlanta, Georgia, I am excited to learn more about the bats of the United Kingdom. If you have not had Dr. Merlin Tuttle on, I would invite him. I’ve been following his work since the 90’s.

Thank you for having this series available. It’s insightful to learn about bats and the various clubs/organizations that assist with bat conservation.
