    such a good podcast!
When I first heard of the Melanie McGuire case I was a teenager and thought she was definitely guilty. Now after hearing more evidence this case screams reasonable doubt. Is she a liar? Definitely. Is she a good liar? Definitely! If I were on the jury this would be a not guilty for me due to so much reasonable doubt. I think she definitely knows more than what she’s saying. Also why is the jury in a hush pact? That’s so odd.

How bad does Meghan want to convince us Melanie is innocent?
Going to start this off with this is a five star review for a reason because I love these two women and the way they communicate. Women and crime is brilliantly produced. I have listened to every episode and I appreciate your respect for each other so much. I typically don’t enjoy two people on a podcast because it’s rarely done well, but you two ladies are brilliant and I enjoy you both so much. I understand it must be difficult to meet someone, get to know them, feel their warmth, and convince yourself they’re guilty. I do understand that. I went into this series not knowing this case at all. I wanted to believe Melanie was innocent, first and foremost. Really wanted to believe that. Naturally… after doing my own investigation (the internet I know I’m obviously a professional) it doesn’t take much to recognize Melanie’s countless coincidences and mistakes equal guilt. Puhhhlease don’t try to say these are all coincidences. She killed her husband and I gotta say… listening to her speak, at first I totally believed she was innocent. She speaks so sincerely. But after hearing and reading all the evidence, come on. Come on. I guess I’m just surprised here! Meghan and Amy do such a good job of usually remaining unbiased and this was extremely surprising to me. Whether or not Meghan realized this and she absolutely makes objective statements throughout the episodes, but she is trying to hard to convince us Melanie is innocent with her language and cadence. Melanie is so absolutely guilty and I’m baffled Meghan allowed Melanie to influence her with charisma. How many times can Melanie change her stories and explain herself away? Loving Amy’s rebuttals throughout the episodes because we’re all wondering how Meghan keeps defending Melanie (whether she recognizes it as defending her or not- Meghan’s language and cadence is extremely telling). I’m sorry to come for you Meghan I genuinely enjoy you and Amy so much. I just realllllllyyyyyyy am so surprised here. Please don’t stop what you’re doing. I hope there will be 100 more episodes I disagree about because I love your content and I hope you two never stop what you’re doing. Amy, I have my finances spare keys in my car. I don’t keep them at the house because what if I’m out and he needs my help immediately? They’re in my car so I can get to him quicker. I’ve rested my case! Thank you both for your hard work and time. Sincerely, A PASSIONATE FAN! :)

    Confused
Listening to the podcast i really believe that Melanie could be innocent, but i saw an interview of hers and her body language its telling she is guilty, either way this is a sad case, those kids lost both of their parents and a life was lost. Great job on this podcast Megan and Amy

I wanted to give it more stars but Meghan wanted Melanie to be innocent
Melanie is clearly guilty, this is downright silly. Amy shlosbeeg, was more objective, but still too persuaded by Meghan.. Meghan sacks was too biased; she was too close to Melanie which caused her to not be objective. Even the questions for Melanie were too soft; I kept thinking that Meghan’s students were the only ones who asked the questions. I liked the podcast, but come on!!! Melanie and Ryan are guilty. I do not think Meghan liked it when Amy questioned certain thjngs Meghan. Even Amy admitted at the End that she felt guilty about thinking Melanie is guilty and felt bad for saying it because she like Melanie’s parents. Amy never met Melanie, so she was able to be a more a bit more objective. Melanie is guilty

    Great Podcast
I don’t think there was any bias with Meghan and Amy. I believe that Melanie is innocent, but I respect Amy’s POV and theory. I definitely agree with the slaughterhouse idea! Great show. Love you both!
  • Wiggen out
    Feels one sided
Why are you both allowing Melanie to complain, bash, and whine about Bill? The man was brutally murdered, and even if she didn’t do it (which I think is a long shot), why does she continue to bash him in death, and you give her the platform. She’s small and couldn’t do it? Precisely the reason he was in pieces! She still has such disdain for him, probably because she got caught. I’m struggling to listen to this podcast as it’s the “let Melanie badmouth her dead, chopped up husband, and forget about all of the circumstantial evidence against her”. Listen to Melanie’s words. She hated him.

    Love the podcast
I have to say I listen to your other shows and I am a fan. That being said I think you were objective in Melanie’s case but I feel like in Ryan’s case you just assumed he was innocent from the beginning. I do think Melanie is innocent after listening when I felt that she was guilty before listening. I feel that Ryan is guilty before and after listening this podcast.

    So Good!
This has become my favorite crime podcast! Well documented. Educational. Entertaining. The hosts do an amazing job of explaining the case while given a legal analysis in layman’s terms. Excited for a season three.
  • mrsimms13
    Yessss ladies 👏
I listen to every podcast you make. Direct appeal is easily my favorite. I was super surprised at some of the bad reviews? If you want to hear two incredibly educated and passionate women speak this is the show for you. They blow every crime podcast out of the water.
  • Stevie.Nix
    Good but take turns talking
Way too much interrupting and cutting each other off constantly so points can’t get across. Slow down and let each other finish a sentence. Other than that I like and don’t care about the bias it’s interesting either way
  • Listener2021:)
    Loved the podcast BUT
Come on ladies! Melanie is guilty. The second hosts theory is way more plausible. The first one got way too close to Melanie. This podcast was so well done. I think her father in law was most likely involved. Now I am listening to Season 2 and changing my rating. This podcast is beyond biased. It would benefit you to have one of you having a different opinion because you both agree on everything and it’s frustrating to be a listener and feel like the hosts are getting it so wrong. But I really like you and want to keep listening. Please try and be less biased because your podcast is amazing!

    Love the hosts…
But for how many Wrongfully convicted people are in prisons, it’s a bummer to see they are covering very reasonable convictions. Sad.

    Season 2
I had not heard of this case prior - and it really captured my attention! I love listening to these 2 hosts and hear them explain certain things in the legal system that I just don't know. I don't think they are being biased just truly listening to what happened and basing an opinion on that. There was absolutely tunnel vision in this case and he was not given a fair trial. I can't understand how he was convicted in 2 trials because there is so much reasonable doubt IMO! 911 calls and facial expressions do NOT equal guilt.
  • JessieGirl0720
    Not unbiased
Ugh. So I had a difficult time figuring out what I wanted to rate this. But geez - Melanie is so so guilty. This podcast isn’t unbiased. They’re basically defending a murderer. Clearly Melanie did and said certain things to clear herself (all murderers in her position would) but to think that these ladies believed that is insane. They’re supposed to be criminologists and they believed a manipulator. One of the ladies even worked at a prison and she soaked up EVERY lie that Melanie said. Wow. Wow. If Melanie is innocent, then everyone in prison is. If Melanie is innocent (which she clearly isn’t) - why spend the whole podcast trying to broadcast how horrible her husband was? It’s almost like she’s trying to justify her murdering him without admitting she murdered him. If her husband was killed by someone else, she wouldn’t be trying to paint him in a bad light. But because she killed him - she needs the world to know how evil he was. Common ladies - do better. P.S if Melanie was charged with perjury, it’s because she actually lied in court. She told the judge that there were no guns in the house.. she said that before she thought she’d get caught. Why lie to the judge and say she didn’t have a gun if she had it lawfully? It’s because she knew she used it to kill bill and it wouldn't do her any good to state that she had a gun. She lied. Stop justifying her and saying that her story is consistent - it isn’t. She lied about the gun and tried to cover up the EZ pass - because she’s a murderer. It’s disrespectful to the victim and their family. You didn’t tell the full story, you just tried to justify her murderous ways. Btw, I am 5’2 & I weigh 120 pounds.. i can throw an 80 pound luggage. With adrenaline, she could probably do more. Here’s what really disgusted me about this - one of the ladies believes that she hired/played a part in someone murdering her husband but feels that life in prison is an “injustice” because she should have gotten 10 years instead of life due to New Jerseys laws. Lady, you are absolutely disgusting. Someone lost their life, was chopped up in pieces, made to suffer and thrown away like he was garbage.. this person was stripped of all his years and the injustice was done to Melanie? Wow. Thank God you’re not a jury member. Ugh. I had to change my rating from two stars to one star after hearing season 2. These women are ridiculous. Ryan is another liar. Stop saying what’s happening to him is unconstitutional just because you’re too blind to see that he deserves to be in prison. He had THREE trials - and was found to be guilty. That’s fair - that’s how our justice system works. I personally know people who knew him and they all said the same - he is a murderer. Btw - I sleep a lot and can sleep anywhere, I also have a heart murmur .. so I guess I could also die in a bathtub.. his story isn’t consistent. All you’re doing is justifying what he did. Maybe the rest of your seasons should be proving why Jodi Arias, Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy are also innocent.
  • Emmrhodes
Season two is a bit biased.
Season one was really fun because it wasn’t so cut and dry. Both of the hosts are brilliant (highly recommend their other podcasts women and crime, and Campus killings), so it was fun hearing all their thoughts/questions/concerns. This season was not as fun because it felt like they came into this season thinking he was innocent.
  • ygjbdyvjg
Enjoyed season 1 more than season 2
I was more convinced and was more drawn to the case covered in season 1. The podcast is well researched and I love the two hosts. But the case covered in season 2 just didn’t grab me the way season 1 did.
  • Neebonator
    Pretend unbiased podcasters
Listen to this if you want to hear two podcasters pretend they’re unbiased and analyzing cases but you can already tell by episode 2 of season 2 that they are going to do the same thing as season 1 and spend the whole season explaining why someone is innocent. It’s fine if you think Ryan is innocent, but just say you do. Also, it’s not SARRAAYAH, it’s Sarah. Season 1 was just plain ridiculous, she was sooo obviously guilty.
  • MonicaAnneHy
    Thoughtful and Smart
I love these ladies! So well thought out, the Podcast comes from a well informed place. I’m willing to listen to the argument and give the defendant a fair assessment. I look forward to hearing all sides of this case.
  • Gone in the Fog
    So good but “you know”
The deep dive style of podcast is great and I’m thrilled Ryan Widmer is getting some new coverage of his case and his trials. I will continue to listen, but the number of times the hosts say “you know” to each other while they talk and share the story is so distracting that it detracts from the overall point of this podcast. It was happening so often in the 3rd episode that I couldn’t keep count.
  • CoolBTL
Season 1 was Well done but with a pretty clear bias
I enjoyed the style of this podcast but to me it seems really obvious that she is guilty. I’m surprised the podcasters so clearly see her as innocent.
  • JordacheApples
    Oh Snap
I am so excited to see that you will be covering the Sarah Widmer case. 🙌🏼🙌🏼Cannot wait to hear your thoughts and opinions.

    All I can say is…
Sensational coverage by this podcasting duo. I was 100% convinced of Melanie’s innocence until hearing of her and Celine ostensibly dining at Red Lobster… in NYC?!?!?!? Give me a friggin break! GUILTY.
  • Zeeplo
    Binged
Evenhanded in my opinion. I felt like I could come to my own conclusions. I understand why they formatted the show the way they did and I feel that it was respectful.

  • panda for life🖤🤍🙂
    Frustrating
I made it a while but I give up. It’s really tough to see so much attention on this case and things like Scott Peterson when theres so many people that actually do get railroaded in the court system. And hint hint they’re mostly not white and middle class. And I can’t believe nobody sees the virtue of a circumstantial case anymore. Like sure the mob could’ve done one of these circumstantial things. But all of them?! No. That’s what makes a circumstantial case overwhelming, it’s not reasonable to think 20 things just happened to not work out or look good for Melanie. Go to truth and Justice podcast for cases that truly deserve the attention.

    Seeking Fame
Body parts wrapped in blankets from Melanie’s work were found in her suitcases but no way she had anything to do with it. If you believe that I have a bridge to sell you and you won’t have to call the next day to erase all traces of you taking it. Don’t waste your time with this podcast. They’re looking for Fame. Next they’ll explore how Dr Jeffrey McDonald was railroaded.

    Testifying at trial?
After much contemplation, the thing that clinches it for me is Melanie’s insistence that her attorneys intended for her to testify at trial. Impossible that they would ever have condoned this. There has never been a witness more vulnerable on cross. I now doubt her credibility in everything. Anyway, excellent podcast.

I love this podcast! It’s serialized which I prefer and they make courtroom nuances into fun but not too fun drama, just like I like!

Love this podcast! Now I listen to Women & Crime because of the smart, thoughtful coverage that the hosts provide. MM is guilty for sure.

Iceman WAS NOT Active in 2004. He was imprisoned.
Just learning about this case so very interested in listening to the episodes.
  • Rachel_NJ
    IceMan🧊🥶
The Iceman was actively killing at this time in NJ 1. Melanie’s attorneys were mob attorneys - if she felt her husband had issues via gambling… then easily it could have been him being taken out. And staging her guilt due to all of the media attention this death received. 2. Why didn’t she appeal on the fingerprint found that was disregarded ? 3. Not one shred of factual evidence against her As someone living in Jersey - this case alone should make all fear the court system. Not trust it. Great breakdown of it though !

    Amy and Meghan rock!
I first discovered these two from the podcast Women and Crime, which I listened to in its entirety. They both are so respectful to victims and their families in whatever discussion they may have. And this investigation was, in my opinion, unbiased and so thorough. The fact that they’re both best friends and get along so well makes the show so fun to listen to also because they clearly work extremely well together and there is never an awkward pause or moment. I cannot compliment you both enough on your professionalism and talent! Definitely recommend this series as well as previously mentioned, Women and Crime.

    Melanie Mcguire
Interesting but seriously, and quite obviously, the boundaries have blurred, and she is so obviously guilty. All of those circumstances lead to no one else. I watched the trial in live time. I have read and researched deeply. She is guilty.

    Please make another season!!
This was one of the best investigative podcasts I’ve listened to in a long time. I was hooked and binged whole season. It’s a must listen…great details, interesting facts, and interviews with Melanie. Hosts are knowledgeable and have a synergy that just “works” for crime podcasting! I truly hope they will find time in between family, jobs in academia and life in general to make another season!

    Guilty
The pod is now grasping at straws looking for any new angle to provide additional episodes and content. She comes across as a bitter convict looking to revisit or knit pick every issue at trial for a miracle loophole rather than an innocent person wrongfully convicted based upon glaring new evidence or a substantial issue or ruling flagged at the original trial. She was duly convicted after a lengthy trial with more than a competent defense put forth on her behalf. Guilty guilty guilty-it's now time to confess and seek leniency as to sentencing ten years down the line when she'll no longer be viewed as a threat to society for shooting her husband and dismembering his body inside three pieces of personal luggage tossed from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. She made mistakes--the luggage, calling EZ pass, and moving his car in AC, etc. She made mistakes and all of this was enough to convict her. Dr. Scott and RMA were the best fertility practice in the country, and there was no place for her hi jinx at their facilities even if one couple lost a baby due to her affair or planning and execution of this horrible crime--more victims that RMA wants covered up and are harder to prove than this bungled domestic murder--get a divorce. Guilty guilty guilty

Would love another podcast by these two.
Loved the story and how each episode was both fast paced and detailed. The story telling was great - covered all angles. Please advice if you two do another podcast on any True Crime story!

    Fine-Tooth Combing the Case
I love how this podcast takes an in-depth look at the case; it indeed has revealed reasonable doubt (although I do think Melanie did it, just not where and how the prosecution alleges.) and the flaws of both the prosecution and the defense. Looking forward to more seasons!
  • ICFANTW
    Any domestic violence knowledge?
I was screaming at my phone when the hosts were confused why Melanie felt like she should leave after her husband tells her he is going to kill her. They also are saying he would have to be very anal to get mad about a dryer sheet. It’s not about ‘being anal’ it’s about being controlling. I get they are trying to be fair and critique what Melanie is saying, but as a survivor myself I am very confused why two professors of criminology are missing the mark sooo badly. Not saying Melanie is innocent or that, if she was a victim of domestic violence, that would justify his murder, but come on ladies!!!

    Melanie McGuire
I personally knew Melanie and Bill I was actually a room mate of Bills in the Woodbridge townhouses in 1997. Why has no one ever investigated Bills behavior and his actions. How do you know he wasn’t having an affair. I think there is a lot more to be learned about his behavior. When you are married to a person you know way more about a person than there best friend or sister or brother. He was a very sneaky person and a little off. He lived a separate life too how come no one has ever delved into that. 🤔. Seems she has just been an easy target. Lazy way of solving a crime...

If you love true crime this is a must
I am a big fan of true crime podcasts but can sometimes be deterred by hosts / poor story telling. Amy and Meghan tell a clear story and outline the information presented at trial and information given from Melanie’s perspective. Although, I’m only a few episodes in I’m already wondering if these two will do another season on another case. The hosts have a natural chemistry and conversation doesn’t seem awkwardly scripted. The only issue I have (and it might get resolved while listening further) is sometimes questions are asked by one host and the other doesn’t have any answers, which is frustrating because I’d love to know these answers! Of course this podcast is in the point of view of Melanie trying to plead her innocence but the hosts give a good overview and appear to be neutral.

    So intriguing
I’ve listened to this podcast twice because I find it so intriguing. Listening to Melanie’s explanation of events makes you think twice about what really happened.

    Melanie McGuire
Watching trial on CourtTV and she is a demure killer. She thinks she was going to get away with it because she comes across as sweet and innocent. I do think she had an accomplice to help do the crime but they would be an idiot to admit it.

Great job ladies! I really enjoyed this Podcast.

    Melanie is a likeable murderer
She’s 10000% guilty but I’m intrigued how she spins a tale. I keep listening just to hear how quickly she can come up with an answer to every question that comes her way. It’s truly mesmerizing. She’s brilliant but also the dumbest with buying a gun right before the murder. This is worth listening to just for the entertainment value of Melanie’s stories/lies.
