Only got through 1/2 of first season. Their takes are a reach at best, outlandish at worst. It’s a one sided self congratulatory discussion… not very interesting

Obsessed with the Buffy Verse! Love these ladies and their take on the show.

Much to recommend. And if you like forced, fake laughter, you will enjoy even more.

I’ve been a fan of Lani Diane Rich’s narrative interpretations for a couple of years now, but it took me a while to get started with Still Dead, because “Angel” is a much more hit-or-miss show for me than “Buffy.” Also, while I loved Lani’s solo version of “Still Pretty,” I find her co-host Noelle unlistenable — a call-out culture broken record who rarely contributes any valuable or unique insight — and I had to unsubscribe before the end of season 2. So I was afraid this podcast wouldn’t be for me either... but boy, was I wrong. I LOVE what Dr. Kelly Johnson brings to the show — she doesn’t just echo Lani’s points, but brings her own professional expertise to bear on her interpretive work and really raises thought-provoking ideas that complement Lani’s always excellent narrative analysis. The two of them together are really helping me understand the “Angel” series in more interesting and complex ways, and it’s great!

I have been a fan of Lani for a while now, and a fan of Angel for much longer, and let me tell you, this podcast does not disappoint! Still Dead offers quirky, interesting, funny, deep insights about this show I love so much, and Lani and Dr. Jones are so hilarious and candid. 10:10 would recommend!

Hands down the best Angel the series podcast out there! Insightful and just plain delightful, Lani and Dr. Kelly make me laugh and think and fall in love all over again every week.

This is a fantastic and insightful podcast. I can’t wait for its return in August, any fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and/or Angel should absolutely check it out, you will not be disappointed!

This podcast is a delight. I’ve rewatched Buffy and Angel many times. I just found the wonderful podcasts about them so I’m catching up while rewatching again. Lani and Kelly are so interesting and so much fun. And finally someone has given voice to the deep abiding hate I’ve always had for Kate! I’m not alone! And there is no better sound than Kelly’s laugh. Thanks for making my summer so enjoyable.

Everything Lani touches turns to gold, and Dr. J’s caress makes it shine that much more. Great coverage of plot; more importantly, great coverage of storytelling; most importantly, great social commentary. I can’t thank the hosts enough for getting me to think critically about media portrayals of gender and race—all in an incredibly fun way. Plus, hey, who doesn’t love Dark Wesley?

I really enjoy this podcast. I'm reallly hoping they can get me through the part of the show I hate, the whole Connor section. They bring fun and new perspectives and can make a sketchy episode fun. Great hosts and fun to listen to.

Listening to Lani and Kelly discuss each episode has brought me so much joy and insight into my own life. I love how they call out the misogyny and patriarchy while recognizing that it was a part of the overall culture at the time. I can’t wait to continue with them through this journey and see how they re-react to each episode going forward! It is so clear to me how much fun they have making each episode. Also, hearing Lani laugh delights me!

This show does a great, deep dive into Angel. The hosts also are smart and insightful, and the conversation is always very rich and layered. I am especially delighted by how much Dr Jones LOVES the show.

Still Dead is truly delightful. The framework leads to excellent and nuanced discussion, with both hosts bringing their specialties and expertise. I enjoy breeding through the series with watchers and skippers. It’s a 6 on my PH scale 😉

I’m a huge Buffy fan have always both loved and hated the weird beast which is Angel. Lani and Kelly bring loving attention and much-needed staking to this weird show, all with a focus on story structure and scholarship. If you have ever watched Angel and are looking for good company in your podcast, you will enjoy this.

I’ve enjoyed the podcast from the beginning. Hosts are fun and while I don’t always agree with their takes that’s what art is all about. But the latest episode was enough. For a podcast that is quick to discuss trigger warnings and the seriousness of other issues, for the hosts to make light of attempted suicide, judge, and laugh about it because it’s a character they happen to hate was the last straw. Turned it off. Deleted

As a huge Buffy lover and an average-size Angel liker I feel like this show was made for me. I’m midway through season 3 of the show and there are far more “moments of perfect happiness” that I may not have made it to without these two lovely, intelligent, and funny hosts helping me to stake things along the way. Even when you think an episode wouldn’t have much to chew on, they find a way to really sink their teeth in!

I love the show Angel but I love Lani even more so I was excited that she started another podcast on another favorite show. I also love her cohost Dr. Kelly, I love their thoughts on each episode and can’t say enough about these two brilliant women!

This is easily the best Angel podcast I've listened to. The two hosts have a wide range of expertise, and the way they bounce off each other pushes them into even more interesting and thoughtful places. And even when episodes push 90 minutes or the occasional two hours, their conversation is focused and their tangents are fascinating.

I don’t even like Angel the Series, but Lani and Kelly are too wonderful not to listen. I cheer when they rant and laugh out loud frequently. Love them!

Still Dead is an educated, enthusiastic, effervescent, enchanting, and, occasionally, erotic (vampire sex, anyone?) take on the Angelverse. Come for the narrative theory, stay for the snark, the research, and the love of Darla.

Lani and Dr Kelly Jones are charming and witty and have such great banter and insight about Angel. I’ve sparingly watched all 5 seasons of Angel, skipping most of the middle seasons, but after listening to this podcast I’m drawn back into Angel and have been deeply enjoying all the episodes I missed. I even watch the “skippers”! If you’ve enjoyed even one episode of Angel you will love this podcast! As an aside, I am totally here for Dr Jones to give me an Angel tailored fortune...

I can’t stress enough how essential this podcast is for any devotee of the Buffyverse. Very few folks critically unpack Angel the series, so I was overjoyed to find Lani taking up the task. Kelly is one of my new favorites, as her takes and questions on each episode are the perfect compliment to Lani while her fangirling and laughter serve as the cherry on top of their infectious chemistry. This podcast takes the series to task when necessary, calling out everything that’s problematic in a thoughtful way. I’ve watched the series many, many times and look forward to rewatching soon, as the podcast has really pushed me to see certain dialogue, character choices, and storytelling elements through a new lens. As a fan of Still Pretty, Buffering, and the new Angel on Top, this is my absolute favorite. Looking forward to journey ahead throughout the lows and highs of this beautiful series!

Love this podcast! The hostesses are both a delight, smart and funny! I just love getting excited with them about Angel, and how they recognize the strengths and weaknesses of the show, analyzing them from a very intelligent, informed, fun and creative perspective.

This podcast is a great Angel rewatch podcast! It frequently makes me laugh out loud and also think more deeply about the episodes.

Happy that's its not just a fan podcast but they delve deep into the story mechanics behind the writing. Came over after Dusted ended and so happy to follow Lani through this series again!

Insightful commentary that has just enough fangirling to be fun, along with philosophy. The insights into story construction and story telling are terrific - and it's so enjoyable to listen to a podcast where all the characters are treated with repect. Lani an Kelly are truly the best!

Only 2 episodes in and this is already my favorite new podcast! Lani of course is a delight to listen to on any topic, but especially on all things Buffy related. And Dr. Kelly Jones is just hilarious and oh so smart. And I’m so happy that with the plethora of Buffy podcasts out there, there’s finally one I love dedicated to Angel, which in so many ways is just as brilliant a show. Can’t wait to hear more!
