Great content, in a conversational format with deep dives featuring some of the leading architects in the game. They strike a great balance between speaking about the profession in technical terms and striving to keep the subject matter accessible for the layman. Time spent listening to these episodes will really enrich your experience on your home golf course, while inspiring the wanderlust required to visit some of the great courses covered in their discussions. Love your show. When you discuss golf courses, please remember to mention the name of the city and state where the courses are located. Sometimes, I’ve never heard of the course, but I’m trying to learn! Thanks

Can’t Miss for Golf Architecture Fans
I discovered Feed The Ball and Derek Duncan after he did the NCAA Tournament style golf course competition this spring. Since then I have consumed myself with the content on the podcast and website. I found that Derek and I share an interest in finding out more about the architects and their thought processes from the late 1940s through the 1980s. His explorations in that era have been illuminating. His conversations with the architects in the original format were fascinating and have been enhanced even more by the inclusion of Jim Urbina in the Salon format. I have likened it to a master’s class where you are in a round table with the brightest golf architecture minds living. I look forward to every episode now and get excited whenever the notification for a new episode pops up. I can’t wait to see where Feed The Ball will go next!

    Urbina?
Great podcast for serious golf course arch nerds. I enjoy the salon but not really sure what Jim brings to the table to be honest. No hate.

    Phenomenal
I don’t ever write reviews for podcasts, but I do think this one is exceptional and deserves praise. The interviews are extensive and expansive. Derek is not afraid to venture off of golf, whether the conversation turn to wine or war. The result is a well-rounded understanding of the people behind the names in golf architecture. You just can’t get that anywhere else. Every interview these people give is replete with discussion of their work. Derek works towards the why of their work, and the person that informs the work. Great work! One suggestion: interview women!

Makes me enjoy a ridiculous commute
Derek Duncan is emerging as a compelling voice in the increasingly crowded room of golf course architecture analysis. Derek has an engaging interview style and is willing to swim upstream with regularity. The virtual cocktail party chatter surrounding this esoteric topic has become fraught with conformity disguised as “free thinking”. Derek, with Feed the Ball, shows a willingness to pass on the kool aid.

    Feed the Ball Pocast
Great podcast that lends insight into a side of the game that does not get enough discussion...the role of architects and course sculptors. Derek ask insightful questions that elicit serious answers from his guests. Derek’s knowledge of history of golf is impressive.
  • ItsMeChrisTee
    The best golf related podcast.
Feed the Ball scratches that golf itch like no other podcast. Derek is remarkable versed on golf history and it shows with great questions and dialogue with the guest. There are some real characters in golf architecture and the way the stories reveal themselves paint a picture of how small the golf world is. If you want to stroll down the fairway before the tees were pushed back, check out this podcast. Psst, Derek, how about a whiskey review at the end of each episode?

This is one of my favorite podcasts. Derek has great guests and the conversations always seem natural and unforced. Listening to this podcast, along with frequenting sites like “The Atlas,” have opened my eyes to things about GCA that I walked right by for years on the golf course without ever giving those features a thought. I’m grateful i found this and will continue to turn my other architecture-nerd friends onto it. Thanks for your hard work DD. Bob

    #1 podcast for golf architecture
Feed the ball has surpassed the Fried Egg as the #1 podcast for pure golf architecture. The guests are uniformly good; from the biggest names in the field, the up and coming and the under the radar artists in the field of golf course design and construction.

Great insight into the minds of golf architects, and stories of courses we love!
I listen to Feed the Ball daily, perhaps the best podcast dealing with golf architecture. My ears used to to be tuned to music only while shaping golf courses and now find myself listening to Feed the Ball 50% of the time. Keep them coming Derek, I truly enjoy each podcast...

    Fantastic stuff
This has been a great series to listen to - very enlightening. Appreciate Duncan’s willingness to ask the occasional tough question and at the same time being very respectful. The range of guests has been fantastic and doesn’t just cover the “trendy” names that get all of today’s press in architecture circles. Most importantly, I’ve learned a lot by listening

    Crack for the Golf addict
Love the conversations with architects so interesting to hear their insight. I appreciate most all Golf architecture from Golden Age to the Jones’s, Dye and to Doak. Recent interview with unfairly maligned RTJ jr was fascinating. Highly recommend
