Mithter with a sithterGreat findI’ve been wanting to get into improv for a while now but never really took it seriously. This podcast is very informative and provides great input from well experienced improv actors/comedians. I haven’t been able to afford classes so this has been a really experience for me because it’s given me a good base to start from and when I eventually take classes I’ll be a little more informed of the process and how to navigate them. At least I hope so lol. Either way, this is worth the time to listen to and learn from.

MarkoWhat?Really Needed ThisListening to the experiences and techniques of people I’ve been watching on YouTube has been so helpful during the Florida Improv Drought. Thanks, Curtis for putting this together. Also I DM’d a thank you on Facebook because I have no shame.

ABQ BaronNecessary Theory for Improv NerdsThis is the improv theory podcast we’ve all been waiting for. I love this podcast, especially the examples of exercises that the coaches run in order to help out particular problems. More of that please!
-
Comrade PepperThe People Demand More EpisodesIs Curtis the Ira Glass of Improv podcasts? Yes, yes he is.
-
Whit-o-HoneyA Lot in a Little TimeThis is a challenging format to do in a podcast -- and maybe more so in a free form discussion of the art of improv. Curtis does an excellent job pulling and organizing insights from a number of voices on very relevant (to improvisers, anyway) subjects.

p gud stufWonderful and Varied!I’m trying to help my University improv grow by exploring the Harold, and this has been a tremendous resource. This podcast has helped my personal improv grow, and I just find it consistently interesting.
-
ChristabeanaVery helpful to a new improv playerI am just entering 501. The insights in this podcast have been very helpful in my development as a player! Bravo!
-
AshealkerBest how the improv sausage is made podcastThis is absolutely the best inner workings, behind the scenes, in the minds improv podcast out there. Improv talk for improvisers (or those improv curious).
-
Pen-an-app-reviewHonestly, I love this. It’s very dense and very nerdy. It’s not for beginners but it’s a nice way to reorientate yourself to specific tools/concepts/exercises at UCB. It also makes me feel enriched at the end of my uber pool. Win. Win.
-
Rhyno15In-depth & DetailedEverybody get in here and listen to this podcast! Lots of insightful advice and commentary from a wide variety of NY based improvisors.
-
Jake C.My favorite improv podcastIt doesn’t get nerdier than this podcast when it comes to improv and I LOVE it!

DelCloserclosestclosedPerfectAs a student and fan of UCB, this podcast is perfect. If you’re like me, reading the manual can become too abstract, even boring. This podcast boils down all the essentials of how to perform improv, as well as vital insight on how to navigate within the community itself. The format: Various interviews with well respected UCB performers broken into bite size clips focusing on the episodes topic, for example “Auditions”. The host is a seasoned performer and edits each episode with care. At the very least it’s a great venue for a UCB NY student to learn about different teachers and help in the process of deciding on which one to take a class with.

FN_PistNot for NewbiesI’m a fledgling player and thought this podcast might be beginner-friendly. Not so. It’s very advanced, mostly NYC-based instructors talking shop re their favorite class warm-ups, most memorable Harolds, etc. If that’s useful for you then this is a five-star podcast, very in-depth and extremely well-produced. But for the likes of me, not so much.

BobrnmswWonderfully curated episodesUnlike most podcasts that spend an episode talking to an improviser about a variety of topics – Curtis spent time talking to a variety of supervisors about a specific topic, and then draws from those interviews the ones feels best exemplifies the topic. I always look forward to his next episode!

jercelingLots of jargonThis podcast is for people who want to know everything they can about UCB improv. For the rest of us laypersons, there is a lot of chaff and a little wheat. There is a TON of improv jargon and if you're new to this, it's completely mystifying. The host assumes that everyone listening is conversant with UCB, and rarely pauses to explain or define. That being said, people who like this sort of thing will like it. For new improv-ers, my advice is to move on to something else. This is the advanced class.
-
Brendan GogginsThe pinnacle of improv podcastsAs an active listener to a wide number of improv podcasts, this one by far takes the cake. Episodes are satisfyingly focused and carry great insight for improvisers of all levels. While there is a natural biases of UCB philosophy (which is acknowledged), each episode gives a strong sense of the differences and agreements of various improvisers on each topic. A must-listen for any improviser.

-
lil-will-with-ketchupthe most techinical improv podcast aroundthis podcast breaks down the various parts the UCB's improv theory more deeply than even the UCB's own podcast, which tends to be a bit more free-ranging and less focused. it's nice to here many perspectives on one topic vs. one person's perspective on many topics.
-
