    Stellar history podcast
I have been following this podcast for a few years and it’s one of my favorites. Awesome to binge-listen to on long road trips. The first episodes where he sets the context for the Napoleon story is spectacular, and then the author keeps on delivering the goods! Keep up the awesome work!
  • gdub718
Thoroughly researched, covers the broad sweep of the napoleonic age.
Catnip for a history nerd. The most recent episode (122) covered the repercussions of Napoleon‘s first lost battle at Aspern-Essling. The personal impact of the death Napoleon’s only true friend Marshal Lannes. Then it sweeps to the secondary fronts in Poland and Italy. I subscribe to the bonus Patreon episodes which discuss smaller but fascinating details like the role of alcohol in Napoleonic armies, can’t followers, the lives of the female camp followers and the common soldier’s experience of battle in this era.

I love the attention to detail and into depth stories told through the podcast, especially stories about individual soldiers and such!

    Really thought I’d hate it
I had no interest in Napoleon or his times at all, but I gave this a shot. Man, I regret not starting it sooner! Every day I’m thinking about Napoleonic history now, absolutely crazy how much I look forward to new episodes. Everett does a great job of getting outside of Napoleon’s head, which I imagine is hard when covering a figure as totalizing as… Napoleon Bonaparte. I’d recommend for anyone who wants any level of knowledge about how the modern world was born, because this podcast is as accessible or as deep as you want it to be. Great stuff!

    Fantastic
I was uninspired by the movie but interested in learning more. I feel like I hit the mother lode! Exceptionally well done content and delivery. Thank you from me who somehow missed world history as I was studying less important, but useful things.

    Great podcast
Been listening to this almost since the beginning. There really isn’t a higher quality historical podcast out there. The social, political, and cultural implications of Napoleon are also discussed in an incredibly well-researched manner. Can’t recommend this enough.

    THE Napoleon Podcast
If you loved Mike Duncan's series on the French Revolution but wished there was more Napoleon, look no further than this podcast. Same, incredibly high level of quality.

    The Age of Napoleon
The presentation is good. However, the podcast home offers the episodes in an other than sequence order. You cannot simply scroll through the episodes and find the next podcast. I have lost my way in the sequence. I have no desire to sort it out. Au revoir

    Extraordinary!
This has been a fantastic journey. The delivery is engaging yet informative, which isn’t always a given. I’ve reached the point where Napoleon has become first consul, and am already dreading the day when I’m caught up and no new episodes are available. Highly recommend!

    Fantastic Podcast
This is a wonderful, informative, and entertaining podcast. I especially enjoy that it covers the social, economic, political, and military situations of before and during Napoleon.. Everett Rummage is a pleasure to listen to and quite learned on this topic.

    Great research and sourcing
Excellently sourced and researched, this podcast is as epic as Napoleon’s life and career. Highly recommended for any fan of history.

    Just excellent
Most in-depth historical podcast I have consumed. It displays sensitivity and judgment in its treatment of the material. Best of all, it takes its time. One of the greats, along with Mike Duncan's two series and the history of philosophy without any gaps podcast.

    Best Podcast in the World.
This is the best podcast that I have found that covers this topic. I love how he goes in depth with things we have never known. I have listened since the very beginning. I have leaned 99% of my knowledge of this topic through this topic. VIVE LA FRANCE!!

    Terrific podcast
I love the way he pulls the various threads of the historical narrative together. He sums up complex political, military, social, and intellectual developments with remarkable clarity and brevity. Hats off, Everett! Well done.

    Great Storytelling
Just found this series and it is an excellent digest of the history and an entertaining story. Everett’s editorial choices have worked well for me and am currently enjoying the side trip through the Haitian revolution.

Awesome and thank you so much for this pod!
My only complaint is I am all caught up and I have to wait for new episodes. Tremendous research work and remarkable ability on the part of the author to keep this very complex story clear and entertaining but solidly researched at the same time. I have nothing but praise and gratitude. Once I get to the end, I will start over as I forget some details from one episode to the next.

    As good as it gets
I love history podcasts and this one has the best pacing of any I’ve found. It’s also the one that’s most helped me connect with a different time and place. The insights from Marx are cool too, especially in a show that is objective enough to appeal to all corners of the political spectrum. Outstanding work, Everett!

    Engrossing
Started just over a month ago. Have yet to take a break and jump to one of the other podcasts I frequent. Full of information, host also notes what has become accepted but may not be accurate, and the host has a pleasant manner in presentation.

    Extraordinary Podcast
I think I first encountered this podcast by a referral from Mike Duncan during an episode of his wonderful ‘Revolutions’ podcast. In any case, I am extremely grateful for discovering this remarkable podcast. Everett is tireless in exploring the facts and myths of Napoleon. His pacing and timing and crisp delivery make every episode feel expertly constructed. Although Everett brings many skills to his account, I often appreciate most the way he explains what living through a ‘legendary era’ meant for diverse individuals, including Napoleon, the man. Three cheers!!

    Amazing detail and digestible narrative.
I became interested in Napoleon on a whim and after listening to the first few episodes of this podcast I was hooked. Napoleon’s impact on world history is vastly under appreciated by most Americans and this series has completed that picture for me. If you enjoy the actual details of history, this podcast is for you.
