Babybuns_2346Very good listenI’ve always liked podcast but I could never find a sports one I really liked until I listen to this I like how much detail there and the interviews with players and coaches!
-
So incredibly beautiful showsVery happy that I listenedHeard about this show at 99% invisible but as a baseball fan I love the show
-
DBrebel2000:)Extensive and fairIn depth analysis of the Astros and MLB’s sign stealing scandal. Great to hear the history and insight into what happened. I love how he seeks to tell the truth and doesn’t pull any punches yet gives Jeff Ludnow a voice to tell his story. Gives a much bigger picture of what was going on in MLB at the time. Thanks for getting this out!
-
BrotherBealsExcellent, and I’m an Astros fanI’ve read Moneyball and Astroball and I’m also a huge Astros fan. This enlightening me to the complete story and I highly recommend anyone who is curious about the 2017 Astros scandal to give all 6 episodes a listen.
-
sae83TerribleLots of incomplete biased information and ignores the fact many other teams were doing the same thing
-
preskoz17An intriguing, gripping recounting of an important piece of baseball historyI’m a huge Astros fan, I loved Ben’s unbiased approach to the 2017 Sign Stealing Scandal. He provides epic details and uncovers an enormous amount of facts. While at the same time, combining it all into an easy to follow, incredible audio documentary. It gave me much needed perspective on the dynamics of the modern game of baseball. Thanks Ben Reider

AtlantaTormanGreat podcast!I’m not even a big baseball fan but this was fascinating. I literally listened to it all in one day. Great job guys!
-
Heytell8Great listen!Well done. I appreciated the history of the Astros baseball franchise woven into the facts of the scandal.
-
Rich84663Must listen for baseball fansI have recommended this to all my friends & family who take any interest in the game of baseball. Knowing the background & the happenings since the cheating scandal provide context for how the trash can scheme ever came about…& what else may happen in the future. Well done, Mr. Reiter.
-
Pmacattack10WowGreat podcast from start to finish. Was amazed that such a well researched podcast about recent events could come out so soon but it became evident that the host’s close proximity to the team years earlier helped him to navigate this story with a head start. Might need to come up with a bonus episode regarding sticky substances and spin rates (Verlander and Cole specifically).
-
Keef66Great InsightNo one but Reiter could have told this story so well.
-
Hogs92Riveting!Living in Houston I thought I was up on the scandal, it’s causes and the like. Once I started listening to this podcast, I couldn’t stop. So much great information, unbelievably well presented.
-
Tyler_B_14Unbelievably good workI’ve listened to this podcast a few times through and have found new ways to think about this incredibly complex story each time. Big thank you to Reiter and the team to deliver such an insightful and enjoyable podcast. Really impressed by the balance, care and thoughtfulness put into this work! Hopefully more can be done in the future on topics like this from you guys. Thanks again!

The BoveeWOW! The ending! 🥸 This is really interesting.I really enjoyed this podcast. It was a bit dry in a few areas, but haha, it’s about baseball — it’s really interesting and very well put together. Still five stars!
-
MountainMan_DrewAwesome stuff!I listened to the first episode and can’t wait to roll through the next episodes. I love sports podcasts that come from subject matter experts who aren’t afraid to admit mistakes but celebrate successes.
-
Mcd'sOne of the best composed!Wow! This was so well put together! Terrific! It felt more like a suspense movie playing out in each segment! To be clear... I am not a huge baseball fan, frankly I find it hard to watch yet I love to play. The personalities here are what drew me in the most and the life lessons that come from it. Funny how we slander, boo and punish the very thing that becomes common practice a short time later because we find out everyone’s doing it. I think they call that irony.

Moose4444FraudThe host writes a book about the Astros subtitled “the new way to win it all.” His “incredible access” alleges to explain how the Astros went from cellar dweller to world champions in just a few years. The book sold well, the author gained a degree of fame and then it is revealed that the Astros cheated the entire season. Somehow, with all of his incredible access, the author missed what opponents were saying the entire season. Does he write an article explaining how he screwed up so badly? No. He cashes in again by relying on the listeners’ stupidity to explore the team’s shenanigans that he either willfully ignored or was too dense to see when he was there.

Dodgers-15The Future of BaseballI absolutely loved this podcast! I’m a huge baseball fan, specifically a Dodger fan so this series was very good!!! Can’t wait for more!!
-

Click on DetroitExcellentWhat a great recap on one of the black marks of baseball. Just as the steroid scandal is getting behind us along comes this. I hurt for those players who were damaged by the cheaters. Shame on everyone who knew and said nothing! Each episode told a story; each episode exposed more who cheated. I believe most players respect the game and would not cheat. I have no respect for those who knew and said nothing. Thank you to Ken Reiter and everyone who are responsible for this podcast - you did good!
-
cmc560Very thorough and well written.I would love to see a follow up series on the New England Patriots organization. Many similarities exist.
-
SrDanOFascinating! This was one of the best podcasts that I have ever listened to. I went in hating the Astros, but in fact, came out of this angry at all of baseball operations. If you love baseball. This is a must listen !
-
a_knuckleheadI’m hookedOne episode in and I am hooked. Well written & produced. Interviews and highlights included with the story telling brings me to a time of watching a “must watch” TV series where I would anticipate the next week’s episode with great desire. Can’t wait to finish the story.
-
carlsunderMore!Left on a crazy cliffhanger! Come on season 2!
-
StoneCutter01The EdgeVery informative and thorough.
-
Montaigne's CatOutstanding, Insightful. An excellent series! Takes the core story of the Astros and uses it to explore the working world of baseball & the role money plays in it. Riveting listening, even if, like me, you’re not such a big baseball fan.
-
TX HS Baseball CoachWanna really know what happened?Fantastic job of seeking the truth. This is journalism 2020. After completing the entire series, I feel very informed. Thanks Ben! Didn’t always like what I learned, but I have no question this is the truth.
-
seniorgal02They’ll always be the Lastros to me!As a Texas Rangers fan I have never been a fan of the Astros, so when I saw you were going to talk about their cheating scandal I knew I had to listen. It was a great podcast really shined a light at the players in the game and how easily they adapted their cheating when they were caught by another team. Man this was good!
-
Jh1424Sports are weird, man. This guy is crying because his team cheated? Other than that I loved it
-

MEL-vynnGreat podcast! Well done, Ben.This is a fantastic podcast. It sheds a ton of light on the scandal, the characters involved, the history of sign-stealing and the repercussions of the scandal from various viewpoints. Ben does an excellent job not only bringing the facts to light but also uncovering the “why”.
-
sontabe123One of the best podcasts. Period.Great production and eye opening factual details. Terrific.
-
63()5Absolutely riveting from beginning to end!A friend recommended this podcast to me and I’m so glad I checked it out. Ben Reiter does a fantastic job with this scandalous story, covering the early days of the Astros through the 2020 season. Very much a must listen for all baseball fans.
-
BB is the new SMWell done and informativeI heard about this podcast in one of the morning shows he was on promoting it. I was looking to learn more about the details of how they went about it. It was a very good listen. Every minute was valid and no fluff to drag you along. Great job!

Judge TazAmericas Pastime- a pure game or cheating/dishonestyThis podcast is excellent. It helped me, after three years, and a lifetime (58 yrs.), to finally reconcile and restore a sense of peace, a fragile peace, toward sports, in general, baseball, in particularly. I am a sports fan first, I love almost all sports, but the biggest part of my sports heart belongs to baseball. I am an Astros fan. I was in Houston when Harvey hit; and I was there when the ‘Stros won the Series. Like many others, I was beyond elated. I attended the first game of the 2019 season of the Astros in Arlington then a few days later, I was at the 2019 home opener for the reigning World Series Champs (so ironic that the crew had so much trouble removing the shroud over the metal banner (so disappointed there was no real flag)). When I heard about the scandal, I was emotionally sick for days! Sick of sports, sick of baseball and sick of the Astros. I could not watch any of their games this past year, 2020, until one day, accidentally, I found myself in my car mid-afternoon, returning from a client meeting, when I heard the first playoff game (Astros and Twins) on the radio. I could not stop listening. I found myself caring again and even caring for these young men who had let me, and other Astros fans, so down. However, I still wanted more answers about the scandal. I was still dealing with some of my “grief.” This podcast gave me a sense of “closure” although I expect there will continue to be consequences from this scandal for years to come. All of this makes me wonder if we need to have a Department of Sports in the Cabinet or a sub-cabinet. There is NO representation for communities and the fans in sports and the fans suffer for it. Manfred, or any other commissioner of a pro league, does NOT protect the fans. Sports have become billion dollar businesses that many times run over the fan. Thank you Ben Reiter, and crew, and also special shout out to my new friend, Tony Adams, for your search for the truth. Truth is highly underrated in our current culture. Cheating and dishonesty reign in politics, in business, in courts, in sports, and, as is obvious on social media, in our culture at large. We have to work if we want truth, if we want peace, if we want hope for tomorrow. Again, thank you Mr. Reiter for your work for the Truth.

dan+brod__Excellent podcast from start to finishI came upon The Edge because I was interested in the Astros fall from grace. I thought I basically knew the story. And I did... sort of. But The Edge provided so much color and insight, from showing the concrete effects on people’s’ lives, to analyzing the exact methods of cheating. The interviews brought so much to the table. Honestly this was a bingeable podcast and one of the best I’ve listened to in a while. More true crime/economics than baseball. A great listen.
-
Indians65The Edge - Bolsinger replacementOne other person may have benefited from the cheating scandal. The ball player that replaced Mike Bolsinger when he was sent down to the minors. I wonder who that was and what became of his career. Mr Reiter, this was an excellent podcast. Thank you.
-
Zach154Must ListenReally interesting podcast to hear from someone who was inside the organization at the time of cheating but had no idea it was happening. This goes into a much further look then just saying they were banging on trash cans but also goes into how these kinds of things have always been in the league.

JoeyGebbiaAwesome needs to be in printIt’s amazing how much information is not known to the masses. I’m not an Astros fan, but when I learned about Lunhnow and how the Astros were putting together their team. I was very intrigued. Some key points that make me say regardless of the cheating,They won the World Series fair and square Why no mention that the Astros Road record was actually better than the Home record Baseball fans forgot how games are won and lost. The Astros pitchers shut down the Dodgers and the Dodgers left so many people on base and didn’t score when they needed to. The Dodgers clearly changed all their signs and there is zero proof of any sign stealing during the world series Sorry, Kershaw got rocked in every postseason vs every team except in 2020 and the Rays were by far the worst offensive post season team in HISTORY. The Astros did better in 18 and 19 also they had Cole. Where’s the venom for the Red Sox. What? Cora goes to Boston, they Lead in every offensive category in and lead in every offensive category in 2018 and then all of a sudden in 2019 they don’t even make the playoffs that’s not questionable?? If you look at the website created by Tony Adams you can clearly see who took advantage of the trashcans and Marwin had his best season ever in 17. No one even mentions him, why? Most fans really don’t know much. This was a great podcast. Thanks Ben. And Astroball is satisfying because it talks about how the Astros totally changed baseball thru technology. Ofcourse minus the sign stealing Oh btw, be mad that Steinbrenner had a judge seal the Yankees investigation. No one will ever know how much they cheated over the years. Do your research
-
Hoosier Astro FanA Wake Up Call For MeI’m an Astros lifer and really didn’t want to believe the cheating allegations. I believed it and understood it after listening to the entirety of this series. This podcast is the kind of solidly sourced, long-form journalism the world needs more of.
-
Tjm000Great ListenGreat storytelling. It was very cool to have read the book then listen to this podcast.
-
HokieBuckeyeVery Interesting! This is a great listen! The facts are interesting and the research reveals incredible facts about baseball and sign stealing and all that goes into it!
-
NationalsLeaFascinatingHighly recommend
-
podcastpeep15Love it by why end?!!!I love the whole podcast and all the interesting things on how someone is innocent or not on the Astros but for the finale I think there is more to it like I kinda wanted to know more about that rich person who bided for the New York Mets
