    Missed opportunity
So much potential…but they can’t go 30 seconds without laughing or giggling at something. No exaggeration. It’s like listening to high schoolers. And it’s disappointing because without that, it would probably be a great podcast. There seems to be something about movie podcasts in particular that turn people into wannabe comedians or grown children.

    TV Shows
I see you guys have done a review on Best Man: Final Chapters as a whole. Would you be open to reviewing other shows like Insecure or Lovecraft Country? Would love to get your take on those

I don’t like Morris Chestnut either
I love this podcast. Insightful, funny, and I’ve found someone who doesn’t like Morris Chestnut, like me.

    Lean On Me episode
I found this entertaining until you all got off topic. Way too much laughing for me. The kicker was calling a black woman a monkey several times. I’m a black man, and I think that was really lame. Y’all all sound like corny nerds who want to sound cool, and you can do that with disparaging a blank woman with a trash old trope.

Should be called Black Male cinema - THANK GOD FOR TIARA
THANK GOD for TIARA! Listening to some of the older episodes was incredibly painful. They are very misogynistic. I know Black men like to pretend like they don’t have any male privilege, but this podcast highlights it SO MUCH. Especially the older episodes. That guy Rob? Omg NEVER IN LIFE bring him back. He was so so horrible. Without Tiara this podcast is just hard to listen to. It’s like Black men do not get Black women at all. The way they talk about BW centered films ….you guys miss so much without a female perspective. It’s borderline disrespectful and kind of sad. Micah and Jay try to understand our side SOMETIMES …but often FAIL. Terrence doesn’t even try. Rob? NEVER BRING HIM BACK EVER. With Tiara this podcast is funny and decent. Her and Micah have great chemistry. Jay also adds to it as well and those 3 have a pretty good flow. However, without Tiara… this podcast has NO balance and clearly highlights just how much Black males DON’T understand Black women. They ONLY see “blackness” from a males perspective.

One of the Best Movie Podcasts out there (Long Review Incoming)
I listen to a ton of movie podcasts so believe me when I say Black on Black Cinema is one of the better ones. Beyond the general value of the black point-of-view on cinema, the podcast offers the following: - Zero fat at the beginning. The the hosts jump right into the movie without the bells and whistles of self-promotion or an introductory conversation that refers to topics off-mic. It’s refreshing that I can start the podcast and jump right into movie. - Diverse opinions. A lot of podcasts generally want to avoid the conflict of disagreement which results in the hosts holding back from expressing their full opinion. The hosts roll with the disagreement amongst them and even make an effort to connect with the other person who disagrees. This makes me want to seek their opinions on divisive movies because it leads to great conversation. - Everything connects to the movie. Some other podcasts will wildly digress so the co-hosts can get on their own personal soapbox. Black on Black Cinema keeps all discussion connected to the movie. The hosts keep the conversation structured. MOVIES I WOULD LIKE TO SEE REVIEWED ON THE SHOW: Get on the Bus, Girl 6, To Sleep with Anger, Poetic Justice, Losing Ground, Zola, George Washington, Miracle at St. Anna,

    Love the petty!
Love the hosts (kinda miss Terrence). YAY T’ara!! The Black Panther movie introduced me to this podcast and I’ve been hooked to this and the others ever since. Listening to their convo sounds like me and my friends, I LOVE IT.

    Misogynistic much?
The host Jay made really misogynistic remarks about a Black woman on the most recent episode. The host Jay referred to a Black women as a “c**n”. That word is racist and should never be used by anyone towards Black people of any gender. Newsflash: you don’t have a right to speak on any Black woman you don’t know. You also don’t get to speak on Black women’s hair “being a mess” when you, the host, are not even married to one. Just because Black female cohost indirectly cosigns your remarks by remaining silent doesn’t make them any less misogynistic. Stick to movie reviews and stop insulting Black women.

    Good listen
I’m a white man who hasn’t seen many of the films these gentlemen review- they give such a thorough recap that I feel like I’ve seen it. I love the critical analysis, and I feel like I learn something. I love even more their exasperation over some of the crazier elements of the film they’re reviewing.

    Good Stuff
This podcast is like listening in on a conversation in a black barbershop. The guys are funny and insightful. I would love for them to review the Insecure series. Would be interesting to analyze that show from a mens perspective.

    Great podcast, Great hosts
The hosts are hilarious and really balance each other out. They review awesome movies and connected me to a lot I have never seen before or haven’t seen in a long time. Really like how in-depth they get on these movies while also cracking me up. One movie to consider: Jackie Brown. Loved the Django episode and share the love for Tarantino. This show rocks.

Discovered this show via TBGWT, a few weeks back. So grateful for the distraction during this chaotic time. Very thoughtful & hilarious commentary. Excited to go back & listen to old episodes... & also anxiously awaiting new ones. Thank you guys!

Movie reviews are accurate but they cape for racists
Somehow these guys are under the impression that a man behind one of the worse bills to hurt African-Americans and referred to black schools as “jungles” isn’t racist. They’re movie smart but politically stupid. Like profoundly, mind-boggling politically stupid.

Luce (short for Lucifer) unlike this five star review... which is long.
Hey guys Terrance, Jay, son of Paps and GG (those names are adorable, let your folks live) . I thought it was time for another five star review. I would have never seen this movie if you guys didn't review it and it wasn't an option on my last flight.  Dig deep in your memories ...as I thought this was uploaded 2 month ago but it didn’t so here we are. For the whole searching lockers at school, as a minor and a student you should have no expectation of privacy in a school locker. Stray bullets, fireworks, b0mbs, they have to protect everyone at this institution and it's more important than privacy. Shucks, people get their insides searched for weed via a p!ss test in certain jobs. And if they find a banned substance at school, procedurally they are obligated to call the authorities. Kids are dumb. That is a parr of growing up, becoming less dumb, hopefully. I wonder if that was his (deShawn) first infraction. She (Octavia Spencer) seemed to be protective of the kids. She totally could have narc'd on Luce. She gathered the black students athletes together to warn them. Likely repeatedly. All he had was his scholarship (which, may naught be garraunteed.) P I don't think that Harriet (Octavia Spencer) was calling that young girl out by name. They didn't show her doing that, as you know called out, this is Luce making this accusation. She may have made statements on women or girls who are victims but I can't see her saying her name.  On the nature vs nurture, I saw this as nurture VS nurture. There was no nature for him because he was brainwashed in to being a child soldier before his nature could evolve... More like nurture and reversing nurture. Now if his birth parents are sociopaths or psychopaths then that would be a manifestation. I sympathised and or related to every character in the film. Except principle nimrod. And yes, he is totally lil  Dr doom noir. At the end, I was waiting on her to tell him to get his lil Bl@ck a§§ out of my house.  Another point that you guys identified out, Luce is so sensitive to black people and not white people. When old boy was like you ain't black you are Orenthal-like, Luce didn't react as harshly as he could have. And DeShawn and how he presents as a kid who is black mixed with more black with parents who may not be as involved or affluent as Luce's parents.  Also, eventually you should review an Octavia Butler adaptation to film ... I'm going to research that and add it to the list as instructed.  Again, great review and discussion.

    Favorite Movie Podcast. Period.
I got into this podcast through my father and since then I’ve been following it religiously. The hosts provide fair, insightful, and sometimes hilarious reviews on a wide range of Black films. I love that they embrace different genres and this podcast has gotten me to stray out of my comfort zone and watch films I wouldn’t have looked twice at originally (for better or worse, haha). I also enjoy the preview episodes where the guys give their perspectives on current events and other pop culture happenings. This is a must listen to podcast for anyone who cares about Black film. Ps - to the hosts, I would love it if you guys could review Hidden Figures. As a Black woman in computing I saw that movie twice when it came out and would love to get your take on it.

    Love this!
Lemme tell you guys- I do not do podcasts but I found this one when looking up Carmen: A hip hopera and I was hooked ever since! Keep it up guys! Suggestion: could you guys do Precious and For Colored Girls? I’m so intrigued on what you think of it!

The Best Podcast On The Planet!
I stumbled upon this gem of a podcast while searching for black movie reviews and my life was changed for the better. The hosts, Jay, Micah, and Terrence are the three older brothers/friends that you never had but desperately needed. Intelligent, progressive, and honest are just a few words to describe this trio. During their reviews of both classic and contemporary black films, the conversation spins into hilarious tangents, personal stories, and informative discussions from the black perspective. The mature black perspective, with the perfect combination of realism, humor, experience or lack there of, to keep you entertained for hours on end. You may not agree with every review but each delivers a conversation that is just as or more entertaining than the film. As a Baltimore native, the local references are the icing on the cake. Jay, Micah, and Terrence, thank you for all your work and effort in bringing us this wonderful content in the TNP Studio Network. I look forward to the future of the network and the day when you all can bring us this great content full-time. Be sure to check out the other shows in the TNP Network, such as Look Forward , their political show hosted by Jay and Andy from the Flawedcast, Dense Pixels, hosted by Micah, Brad, and Terrence, and No Time To Bleed, the group’s action movie podcast. Subscribe for the low price of $5 for the month or $50 dollars for a year subscription. It’s worth every penny!

    These guys ...
I love everything about this podcast! I feel as if I am having conversations with my male cousins whom I am close to. I listen to this podcast on my hour long drive home from work and I find myself joining in on the conversations LOL! I love the way that they can agree to disagree and how they have helped me to critique a film as well. Point being ... I am a huge Tupac fan but listening to their opinions made me realize that, yes, it was not the greatest interpretation of him. What a bs movie. :( I love their honesty and their conversations outside of reviewing the films. And the camaraderie is so genuine. I look forward to hearing more from “my cousins.” Keep doing what you do ... all the best to you guys. P.S. I think Terrance sounds like “Slim” from the movie “The Wood” also that same guy is now on the show “The Rookie.” LOL! What do y’all think? Ha ha ...

    Great Podcast
My husband introduced me to your podcast and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ve also recommended your show to several others as well. I drive and travel a lot and your podcast is one of my go to’s when I’m on the road. My favorite episodes by far are the ones with movies I’m quite sure you all will hate/laugh at, such as pretty much any Tyler Perry movie! I can’t wait to hear you review the movie Little with Regina Hall and Issa Rae. Although it may not fit the criteria I think it would be hilarious to hear you all review it.
  • Gothikarose
I’m glad I found these guys
I’m really glad I found this podcast since the other movie review podcasts with black hosts were just not working out for me. I love how funny and socially aware these guys are. Since it’s a black male podcast, and I’m a black woman, I was worried I’d hear a bunch of colorist and anti black women jokes and comments. Fortunately, these guys are much smarter than that and they’re hilarious too. I wish they’d review more Tyler perry movies though, lol.

    Great Show!
I'm going through the back catalog and this show is fantastic. The Watermelon Man and Blackklansman episodes are my favorites so far. I'd love to hear an episode The Watermelon Woman (1996) and Losing Ground (1982).

    The best podcast out!
I had been looking for a podcast where movie reviews were done by people of color for a long time. I found out about this one from a re-tweet listing the best black podcasts. I was overjoyed when I finally found one. Being the black woman I am, the first episode I pulled up was Waiting to Exhale. I think I got 10 minutes into the episode before I turned it off. All I could think was these dudes have some nerve! I didn’t go back for at least a month. Lol I eventually I went back and have been enthralled ever since. Micah, Terrence (Heyyyy Terrence), and Jay are excellent. They go in depth into each movie, whether they love it or hate it. I appreciate that as well as the tangents that are bound to happen! I’ve since joined the fan group, even though I hardly ever comment or post anything. I lurk like a creep. I’ve also branched out to some of the other podcasts they have, even though I know nothing about video games and other topics they cover on the Nerdpocalpyse. I even plan on subscribing. I appreciate what you guys do!

    I love y’all
I literally love this podcast. I will say y’all are committed because I tried to watch Tales from the Hood 2 I didn’t get pass the first story. I really wanted to like it because I liked the first one so much but Nah Chief this ain’t it. Keep doing what you are doing and I’ll keep listening.
  • Kansas City's Don
    Takes From the Hood 2
I been listening to the show for a while and most the movies you review I’ve seen or now looking through a perspective. Not this one! They should have focused on "The Sacrifice" for the entire movie.

    Great Podcast
These brothers are funny and informative. One of my favorite movie review podcasts.
  • YourPalJensen
Great podcast from a different perspective
I found this through hearing Jay on the Supporting Characters podcast. Excellent discussions on current political topics and black centric films that most podcasts do not cover. I enjoy the shows even as a middle aged white guy, not the target audience.
  • Christina21381
    Love this podcast
I was directed to this podcast a few years ago by a coworker who knows how much I hate Tyler Perry movies. I listened to the Temptation review (never watched the movie) and I was HOOKED! Definitely listen with headphones if you’re at work.
  • JensenBear5
    i'm back again
I have reviewed in the past, years ago. when I thought that was a white guy freely dropping that n-bomb. forgive me. this podcast just keeps getting better and is a staple in my weekly/biweekly podcast regimen.

    My best friends
This is a great podcast. I really feel like I’m having a conversation (that I’m not a part of haha) with my friends about great/horrible films. The banter is hilarious and insightful. Micah’s voice is soothing. They often digress into random topics but even those conversations are interesting. I’ve watched a bunch of movies I’ve never thought of watching simply because I want to go along with the podcast. Love it.

Had to use my son phone to write this review (team android)
I wanna thank you guys for getting me thru my work days. Best podcast on the network. I let my wife listen to the Acrimony to show her that I’m not crazy that it’s a bad movie. Unfortunately y’all still didn’t change her minds.

    Love this show
What's up y'all, I've been a big fan of this podcast for a while, ever since I first learned about TNP and all of the other podcasts, this has been my favorite one to listen to. I love the dynamic betwene you three, I love your commentary, and past episodes are still hilarious no matter how many times I listen to them(Coming to America, that movie with Michael Ealy using ol girl's toothbrush, and so many more) The preview episodes always open up an interesting dialogue, and whether or not I agree with you all feel, I always come away happier being able to listen to black men and women talk about black movies and their life experiences. I may be the youngest reviewer y'all have had at 18, but I love all of your content and hope to see you all succeed Peace

    Listen & learn
I may be the biggest fan from an unexpected subculture (queer white chick) & from an unlikely profession (mental health field). This podcast is my favorite way to listen in on a conversation between black men about black lives. I learn something through listening to every episode—not only about film but about America, life, and just being a person. I suggest this podcast to everyone who asks me for recommendations. These guys regularly annoy me, irk me, and flat out piss me off with the content of their perspectives. Being uncomfortable is a good sign. They aren’t talking to me or for my benefit! How often do white people volunteer to put ourselves in a position to shut up, listen & learn? Our society forces that in reverse on POC every day & in every sector. I appreciate a chance to flip that dynamic. Thanks guys. P.S. Jay, you say “um” soooo much
  • Royalslave
    Freakin' LOVE this podcast!
In general, I have not had a long history with podcasts. That being said, I think Terrence, Micah, and Jay are a gift to movies! I am a professor of film studies and regularly read film reviews and these guys have their fingers on the pulse of the societal implications of watching a film. Because of this podcast, I have started requiring my students to produce their own critical movie review podcast. I will admit, however, that as a devout Christian, I was bothered somewhat during your review of "Come Sunday." I agree that Christians often behave "un-Christianly" and I support your rights to believe or not, but resorting to mockery and insults towards those who do believe were beneath you. I also want to applaud you for your disdain of Tyler Perry. I wholeheartedly agree that his work is problematic. In fact, I wrote a book called "The Problematic Tyler Perry" [don't read that on air--I'm not trying to co-opt my praise for you to sell books.]

    Love the show
Hey fellas I am a long time listener and I have to say that I love the podcast. When listening to it I feel like it’s me and my friends and family sitting around talking about politics, music and culture. You all do a fantastic job in presenting a diverse black voice to the world and I have used your podcast in the Black Studies classes I teach. The students loved it and all agreed Micah had the sexiest voice, Terrence had the best old school black man personality and Jay sounded like a white dude. Sorry brutha no one believed you were black and thought you was Rachel Dolozialing this thing. Gotta add I am actually using your podcast and others in my presentation at the National Council of Black Studies, talking about how you and others like you are the modern day griots transmitting Black culture via technology. I wish all bruthas success and nothing less. I’m curious as to how did all you bruthas meet? P.S. how is your boy rob doing, I would love to hear from him. I appreciate your show when you all addressed black Folks mental/physical health. At the time I was on the hospital having a heart procedure done and the doctors said Your show was a great stress remover for me so thank you. I’m doing great now P.S.S. have you all thought of maybe doing a book club type show/episode or reviewing tv series. Would love that

    Down A Flight of Stairs
Love this podcast. Seeing as I'm often the only black person in any given group of film geeks I come across, most have never heard of most of these movies. It's refreshing to hear black films discussed in detail in any capacity and these guys are often hilarious. How many times will Jay mention throwing or kicking someone down a flight of stairs, though? I gotta admit, I tend to enjoy the reviews of the terrible movies the most.
  • GooseNugget
    Black People
Rob’s humor is insufferable. OMG. But I’m not sure how voluntary his absence is so I’ll leave it at that?? Also, these guys could use some additional editing because the banter can be a little excessive. But I love black people and I love movies. & 3 out of 4 of these guys keep me laughing. Btw, somehow my review got erased but y’all deserve the credit. Also, I heard the message about fixing the rating so it’ll be read. Y’all are messy and I love it lol.
  • Jdotmurray
    I love this podcast.
Recently i saw Lean on Me on VH1, and I checked to see if you guys did a review. I don’t think i laughed like that in a LONG time. Smart commentary by intelligent men! Keep the shows coming!
  • Nay1718
5 splash mountains out of 5
Intelligent and ratchet all in one. You make my work day flow with laughter. I've learned the difference between a good movie vs an entertaining movie. For example the man in 3B and Temptation. Keep up the amazing work! I love you guys. And one for the ladies... Girls Trip. Maybe?
  • Dkbruner
    I rock with yall
While I don’t always agree with your takes, I appreciate that there is a place to come to hear from cats who take the time to give black cinema a full and thorough critique. Please consider doing a review of the Teddy Perkins episode of Atlanta season two. The show is proving that last year’s success wasn't a fluke and I would love to hear your thoughts.
  • Darius1224
Jay looks like Seal without the scars.
You guys are the most relatable people ive ever heard, as a black kid who never truly fit in with others black kids because i wasnt so called "black enough" or talked to proper. You guys make it feel like im talking films with good friends. Keep working on this and it will grow, ill continue to support with a premium sub. If your looking for more income from the show may i suggest streaming live shows or a patreon where people pay for their film suggestions can get viewed. I have a suggestion for that one sinbad film you guys wanted to do in the past. Let it be HouseGuest, its a fav of mine. btw whatever your paying Micah.. Double it! he's the true star here. The Beyonce or Justin Timberlake of the group.
  • MysteryDoe
    Great show
What i find most entertaining about this podcast are the episodes reviewing “bad” movies. Absolutely hilarious! Lol With that being said, i would love to hear your review of one of my favorite “bad” comedy movies. The 2005 film “Kings Ransom” starring Anthony Anderson, Kellita Smith, Regina Hall, and Donald Faison. Keep the episodes coming fellas! 👍🏽
  • Laura EI
    Thanks
New listener, you guys are funny as hell and getting me through some tough times right now. Blacula episode was my first and favorite! If you’re looking for a good blaxploitation horror movie you guys should watch Sugar Hill, I think you’d enjoy it!
